Do they make money here on the victims of the war in Ukraine? Why not, it is legal and clear according to the rules. But what about morality and compassion?
I booked a room at this hotel on May 26-27, 2022 because I am a ukrainian volunteer and had to go to Munich to receive humanitarian aid for my fellow citizens. But due to hostilities in Ukraine and some disagreements with suppliers in Munich who forgot to announce in advance that May 27 is a non-working day, the date of the trip was postponed.
I informed Booking.com and Hotel Royal München the day before the chek-in date of force majeure and asked to either change the date or cancel the reservation for free and not to charge me a € 113 fine.
But they didn't do it and collected money :)
Booking.com customer support answeard to my further explanations. They were very sensitive but helpless. They asked the hotel's consent not to charge for a service that the hotel did not provide.
I personally talked on the phone to the hotel staff, who told me that they did not break any rules, and have the right to charge me € 113 even if I have cancelled reservation a day before chek-in time because such rules of residence are agreed with Booking.com
And their chief manager decided to deny my request to return the collected funds.
The hotel did it legitimate! No violations of the law or regulations! But is it ethical and moral to treat people who suffer from war like that in such circumstances?
