This is one of two gate towers of the city. The tower is the living testament of the city as the tower had many additions and facelifts over the years.
The wooden beams in the tower date back to the 13th century. From that time it was used as a prison where the prisoners nicknamed the tower "the cloak of Martin" as the tower is named after Saint Martin.
An additional gate was added that currently has a Mc Donald's sign, a tablet commemorizing the burning of witches, a Double-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire was installed and many other features was added over the centuries.
Since the Mc Donald's sign is added to the tower, it is currently nicknamed McDonald's-Tor.
