The meals were not more than OK and far from real tasty Indian food (and we were there 2 times). The service was super slow. We waited 40 minutes (!) just to get our first entrance meal. If the restaurant can’t provide more fast service so why not to bring basic and simple appetizers like it is acceptable in any other Indian restaurant all around the world. Sorry but not so good experience.

The food was absolutely delicious, the outdoor seating is in a nice courtyard that is sheltered from the traffic of the main street, and the service was phenomenal. Abhay was very attentive, and even let us sample an appetizer for free along with our dinner. As a visitors from the US who were in Freiburg to learn German, we were also delighted to meet someone who was so excited to speak with us in English :)

Good experience.Accepted reservation on a busy Friday evening for 6 people, we reserved at 5:45 for 6:45 dinner, calling early is always recommended, as it gets completely full as soon as it opens. Very friendly staff. Polite and attentive. Freshly prepared food, the rotis and nans were super soft and rice dishes were very tasty. Curries (both dal and paneer) were a bit salty though we had asked for more spice. It's always good to order drinks and be patient with food to arrive, it's worth the wait. Reasonable portions.

Worst experience I had. Usually I don't write bad experience to indian restaurants but this time it was painful. We came here first time by reading reviews, we thought it will be pleasant and nice experience. But it was not the case. Since we were new to city and place, my wife asked for better parking place, the owner was not even ready to answer and said 'find it on google' and started ignoring her. Eventually google help me to find better place, thanks google for being kind. We ordered food and requested to have Dal with no spices for my daughter but again cooperation was not good. Eventually we accept what they delivered. My daughter didn't eat it. In general food was Ok, I feel overrated on Google reviews. I don't find nothing special. After finishing food, he just asked card or cash and left machine on table, thats it. No words. I feel like, he doesn't like Indian persons in his restaurant. While leaving table we saw other Indian family entering restaurant and he was without welcoming them started arguing why are you sitting here? you are not supposed to sit in restaurant, you have ordered food for take away. Which was in harsh and loud sound. However other Indian family was silently listening and talking with him. I feel very bad when we get such bad experience in Indian restaurant. I am not surprised with bad hospitality but it discourage me to try it out any new Indian restaurant.

If someone is really hungry, having Indian food cravings and no any options available then try it with courage. And expect no morals, bad hospitality. I will never ever recommend this restaurant.

Reply to Jaipur response: Situation you mentioned was not the case. My wife came, greet (Hi) with smile and asked your colleague (not you) in restaurant for parking question then he said, let me call my boss and rest is already written. So your words saying with loud and harsh is just lie. About European Indian restaurant, we know situation very well from many years and we also support with our best. We were two adults with one kid and ordered two separate dishes, what do you expect more? Like I already said, when you see Indian people around your restaurant, you make your own mindset and started behaving on it.

Apart from your restaurant, we also tried other Indian restaurant (taj tandoori) first time in offenburg and it was excellent experience and warm welcome. You can check my review there.

Amazing food and the service is great!! It’s also on a nice quiet corner so the atmosphere is amazing! Would absolutely recommend this restaurant (and the chai especially)

We ordered ‘Lamm Karahi’ and ‘Chicken Tikka’. Lamm Karahi was so good, but chicken tikka was a bit more salty. Bread and rice were also cooked good.

Owner is so friendly, he takes care of every customers.

I will recommend it.

I went to this Jaipur 20 years ago with my wife before we had children. I was back in Freiburg for the first time since then and wanted to see if the restaurant was still there. I walked around with my friend to see if we could locate it. I couldn't remember the name or address so had to go through the various Indian restaurants door to door, trying to locate the Jaipur once again. I knew you had to go up one flight of stairs and the food was amazing, but that's all I could remember. Well, imagine my joy and excitement to find them again and see that the owner was still the same man. Wow. I don't know who was more happy or excited, the owner or me!? :-D He was so happy to see a repeat customer after 20 years that he brought us a wonderful sparkling wine in two flute-glasses. What a wonderful gesture.

We both ate the wonderful 'Chicken Tikka Biryani' and just loved loved the taste. In fact it's not fair to say taste. There's more than one taste in that dish, and they make the best. When we were ordering, the waiters came to the table to make sure they got the level of spiciness right for us. They hit the nail on the head and we absolutely loved our meal.

I will be back one day and may it not take another 20 years for it to happen. So visit the Jaipur and say hello the wonderful staff from me. :-)
