we came to la casa after a demo against the w/a/r on ukraine. odd choice, but we met friends who warmed up here from the cold and it was conveniently close to the russian embassy where the protests took place. feels like we are tourists on a vacation in our own hometown here, cause we rarely spend time unter den linden other than to denounce political grievances.
this place transports you right to italy with its folky mediterranean guitar music, black and white photos of italian sights and people eating pasta. there's lots of ice cream on the menu, but we were already freezing so we ordered hot tea and cappuccino with baileys. it came with lots of cream, chocolate sparkles and two extra packs of sugar which one of my sweet friends actually did add for some EXTRA sweetness. our pizza was served with warm plates, what a treat ???? taste was decent, staff quick u0026 friendly, prices okay for mitte.
there are colorful neon lightshow candles, white chairs paired with glass tables and very cool fake flowers made out of paper towels that look like a craft project i would have done in elementary school. spaghetti and espresso beans are artfully draped in jars on the window still, just like in a real casa italia - bravo ! toilets are very clean, though very gendered.
saw armin laschet a few streets down from this restaurant today and am wondering if he comes to eat gelato here sometimes. grateful he wasn't voted to become the german chancellor last year, would be really cool if putin would stop engaging in politics as well ????
