The tea was very disappointing. I will do my best to write a fair and sincere review.
Me and my girlfriend spotted a newly opened Bubble Tea place while walking to our destination. The menu seemed interesting (she was captivated by peach milk, me by yakult tea and green tea jelly), so we decided to try the tea.
The visual impression of the cafe is very good. The chairs are soft and comfortable and the interior is decorated beautifully.
Sadly yakult tea was not available, as well as my first and second choice for topping (green tea jelly and hantian). I settled for cream cheese green tea with tapioca instead, as tapioca is usually a measurement of the cafe quality and I'm a huge fan of cream cheese.
There was no issue with waiting for the tea, it was prepared rather quickly and the employees were kind.
My experience with the tea:
+ The green tea itself had a very simple taste, however it lacked any bitterness and was very refreshing. I really enjoyed it.
- The cream cheese was pleasant at first sip, however with time, a coffee creamer taste emerged ... ?! The taste and consistency were reminiscent of powder mixed with water, opposed to think and delicious whipped cream-like cream cheese I am familiar with.
- Tapioca was... very unfortunately the very worst I have ever had. Very overcooked, non-chewy. The flavour was very reminiscent (us both agreed) of 5-minute instant tapioca ... ?! It was difficult to finish the tea, as tapioca was causing me nausea. I have never had this experience before.
- Despite choosing 30% sweetness, the tea (excluding cream cheese and tapioca) was still very sweet.
My experience with my girlfriend's tea:
+ I enjoyed the peach milk tea. The aroma and flavor of the peach were good. Girlfriend said she expected "more milk, less tea" however this probably varies on recipe of a given cafe.
+- My girlfriend enjoyed the coconut jelly. I personally found it too soft and not chewy enough. After some thought, she agreed.
- The strawberry popping boba were not good. They popped very easily, the taste was artificial and overly sweet.
- The tea was definitely too sweet, even for 100% sweetness.
Overall, the tea base was very pleasant, however the toppings were extremely disappointing. The only way I could recommend this tea is without any toppings added and with severely reduced sweetness. However, it's important to mark the prices are higher than in other Bubble Tea cafes. For this reason, I can't recommend this place as there are much better alternatives in Kiel.
