Saw this interesting statue after walking from the Museum Bridge. It was quite open so it was interesting to see how weird it was with people and presumably death in the same boat. It was an interesting thing to look at while passing.

Narrenschiffbrunnen (Ship of Fools Fountain) is a peculiar monument located just north of Museumsbrücke along Plobenhofstrasse. This is the work of German sculptor Jürgen Weber (1984-87) and was erected here in 1988.

What you see is a bronze ship filled with characters that are sailing in a world of doom. It is a pictorial representation of Albrecht Dürer woodcuts on the moral satire Das Narrenschiff by Sebastian Brant (1494) Figures include Adam and Eve, Cain as a child as well as other allegorical figures of violence, war and destruction.

This is one of many provocative sculptures scattered around the city. Others worth making time to see including Ehekarussell (1984), also the works of Jürgen Weber. We similarly enjoyed the sculpture Tanzendes Bauernpaar (Dancing Peasant Couple) by German Sculptor Waldemar Grzimek (1988) located at the eastern end of Trodlemarkt island.

Nothing much to see here... The fountain 100 meters further is much nicer too see.

I really enjoy this sculpture /fountain. Not always is on, but it is really nice and pretty.
