Very cool place to explore. It’s not as ‘grand’ as for example, the palace of Versailles, but it sure has its charm and some very interesting stories to tell. The self guided tour is well organised so you get to see everything and learn via the free audio guides provided. The price is acceptable and you can easily spend a whole afternoon in this old Royal residence.

The Residence is all gold and rich tapestries. The wealth of the rooms is breathtaking and everything has been very carefully restored. The audioguide is, however, rather lengthy and boring, it is enough to just read the descriptions in every room. The visit is at least 2 h long.

If you've got plenty of free time, it's a good visit. If you've only got 48 hours in the city though, you won't be missing out by not going. There's a lot of rooms there and some are incredible, but a large section of it just feels like a huge empty building. Towards the end there's a lot of objects to see but for a large part it feels un-lived-in as opposed to being preserved from the time it was lived in. Most of the staff seem annoyed by tourists, which is slightly inconvenient seen as its a tourist destination. On the plus side though, there are some incredible rooms and the surrounding area is beautiful, historic and worth seeing. Finally the German guy born to Italian parents working in the ticket booth was great, super helpful and really friendly.

For ~ 9 € you can enter and see by yourself the greatness of this huge palace. This place was used as residence for bavarian monarch from ~ 1385 to 1918. You can also use a guide your (very useful) but almost all rooms also have the explanation written. It’s very nice to observe all the architecture and history/ representation behind the paintings in the walls and ceilings.

Although this place has A LOT of rooms, so keep in mind this tour is very tiresome (kids may be bored) and lasts something like 2.5h. There you be a “short” path and a “long” one as you are visiting, you choose.

Must visit in Munich. This is very beautiful and one of the richest palaces in Europe I have ever seen. Very impressive collection of interior design from different centuries in all its beauty. That day we were there were small concerts representing different epochs in different parts of the museum. It was very charming and like a pleasant surprise for visitors.

Fascinating history and building. There are multiple ticket options to choose from and can range from a short tour (maybe 1hr) or much longer tours depending on what you want to see. I chose the combination ticket for the e residence and treasury to see the jewels. Lots of rooms to see and lots of walking.

Worth a visit but a lot of the interior is a mix of different styles. Most original features were destroyed so now you only see 1960s reconstructions.
