Wonderful restaurant! It was given a great review in Rick Steves travel book. We came 3 times in our 5 day stay in Munich. Large eclectic menu, there is an English menu if you ask for it. Delicious food, amazing sauces. Tony plays the piano every evening at 7pm. Best bartender in Munich! Wonderful atmosphere.

When service is so slow that you have to wait one hour to be served with they standard breakfast... that's sad.
Otherways, I like this place and the atmosphere, breakfast menu is inventive and interesting, portions are huge and food is quite good.

The food was great, but service was not. The person who was serving our table was rude from the beginning. When we paid with money, he gave us a 50 euro paper money with draws on it. When we asked him if it was possible to exchange it for a paper money without draws, he said “No. If you want this to be exchanged, talk to the another clerk”. While waiting for the other clerk, we could see him complaining about our request. Before the other clerk came to talk to us, he started taking to us again saying “anyone will take this money, I don’t have the time to deal with this kind of request right now”. Terrible experience on our side…

I ordered melange coffee with oat milk which was rather mediocre. Wanted to pay by card and couldn’t because it wasn’t a minimal amount for card payment. I got a rude lecture from a waiter that I should always carry some cash with me… I guess that’s just German friendliness.

When you are looking for a nice place to drink and enjoy the exclusive atmosphere of Cafė am Beethoven I can recommend but in case you plan for dinner. Make sure to eat plenty before as the service (setting stopwatch, took 82 minutes) to serve a tasty less Boeuf Stroganoff dish + additional 10 minutes for utensils!

Service was bad, inattentive. Weird “Oktoberfest fee” at the bill saying “free drinks 4€” when we got no drinks , then waiter explaining it was table cover and tip - which is unusual in Germany and must by law to be mentioned on the menu. So we basically were forced to leave tip for bad service. Food wasn’t amazing but that’s almost beside the point.

They serve brunch well into the afternoon (even if the breakfast menu isn’t displayed outside). There is a 20€ card minimum - but with the 2 of us it was easy to reach and the food came in large portions.

There’s a ton of seating inside and outside. The atmosphere is a little cramped, but in a cozy way. The live pianist added a level of sophistication and complimented the chatter. Overall good vibes and somewhere I would return to!
