It is just ok, not too bad but also not too good.
Regarding the cleaning there are still things to do, especially at the bath.
I first had a room at which I could not close the door, the door was broken but they changed it without any problem but my second room was to the main road In front of the hotel. I could choose between Air condition or the noises of the six row road.
A more or less funny thing are the boards in which you can store your clothes and where the safe is located. It looks like an overseas container and has the same closing handle and that’s also the funny thing. Those doors are extremely loud to open. I had to stand up quite early and every time I picked up my things, there was that loud noise from the doors. I would not have the rooms next to mine, you do hear that noise every time you open the door.
At the end I must say, you can have better hotels for the same amount of money.

I usually stay at Mercure hotels in England and am very satisfied.
The hotel was probably good for someone with a car but, even though it has the word "City" in it, it was a bit far to walk to the center city and even the train station and very dark at night.
Also, we were never told at check-in that the hotel had a policy of cleaning the rooms every other day but that, given the choice, we could have had our room cleaned every day which is exactly why I go to a hotel and not to an Air Bu0026B - i.e. to have my room cleaned every day and not, under the guise of "eco-friendliness" (i.e. the hotel saving money on cleaning personnel).
Furthermore, when they did clean the room, the bathrooms still stunk which means they did not use sufficient detergent to clean them properly - particularly the toilets - and kill the germs.
Lastly, most of the people at reception had a poor knowledge of the English langauge and couldn't even (or were not willing) to explain where the riverfront was or indicate it on a map.
All-in-all, I think that the hotel structure is too big to be managed property - only 2 elevators for such a huge hotel! - and, per my title, it was not up to the usual Mercure 4 star standards even though the public rooms and breakfast were very good.

the air conditioner worked very poorly. After I have asked staff to adjust it, I have got a message (let's say a fairytale) that it is a standard for Germany, and if someone want to turn on the air conditioner colder, it will lead to the formation of bacteria. I'm just wondering why in Dubai or in the south of Europe this does not lead to the formation of bacteria .... The conclusions are obvious, either saving electricity or simply not working air conditioning. It was also a constant sound in the room, like a hair dryer was being turned on and off somewhere. Bed is normal. Breakfast was OK. The overall rating is that this is more of a 3 star hotel than a 4 star.

Great location near City, modern funky German rooms with maritime décor influence with Hamburg's shipping history, particularly loved the Wardrobe u0026 Minibar "blue shipping container" look, excellent!

Great staff, felt well looked after. From check-in, to barstaff, to restaurant staff - professional and friendly. Room was in good shape. Breakfast was A1.

Great hotel that I can recommend even in times of Corona.

The service is very friendly and supportive, in addition to that the keep everything clean and disinfect the common areas often.

In regards of the atmosphere the lobby is cozy and welcoming. The rooms are amazingly designed to replicate Hamburg harbor Design. With container like minibar and cloth shelves.

Breakfast is great and one big plus point for me was the hygiene concept they had for breakfast. One of the few hotels that offer buffet breakfast during Corona. They arrange the buffet in a U-shape with a servant who picks up the food you chose and place it on a tablet for you. When you got everything you wanted to eat, they hand you the tablet with everything you chose.

Location wise the hotel is close the city center and the central station. Attractions like Speicherstadt are a bit further away but you can reach them on foot in 20 - 30 min.

In summary I can recommend this hotel.

Pleasant and kind service from the staff namely Helena M. and Marcus. The only downside was the limited choice for breakfast, but given the very low occupancy of the hotel at this time understandable.

TIP:
Do not open the window overnight, otherwise you will wake up earlier than you wanted due to the roaring birds. ,-)
