I had horrible experience in the SUBWAY branch in Dresden Hauptbahnhof WeinerPlatz. I walked to the counter and placed 2 orders of big Tuna sub, one in Cheese oregano and the other in Flatbread. The employee at first tried to give me plain bread, I said I wanted flatbread. Then the employee brought out a round wrap and put little bit of tuna on it. I was not sure if it was for me so I asked him. I said that I didnt want a wrap, I wanted a flatbread sub. If there is no flatbread, I would like to change my order to cheese oregano bread instead.
At this time the manager walked in and said that this is what his employee had made and I have to get it. Apparently it was my fault for not stopping him before he put the topping on. I said no, I dont want a wrap,I wanted a big sub, so I am not paying for a wrap. He explicitly said that I have no choice. I said, okay then I am leaving. He took the phone and dialed the police. This is because they have already made the 2nd sub and wanted me to pay for that one while refusing to serve me the second part of my order. He forced me to pay threatening to call the police and saying that this is how it it done in the country.
I told him what does he mean by that and that I have been living here for 6 years and have a job and a house. I am not trying to cheat anyone. I just want the food that I am willing to pay for. He went along and mocked me and laughed at me along with his employees and other customers. Alone and humiliated, and mocked and laughed at, I was determined that I would not refused to be served because of my ethnicity. I had place orders for 2 sandwiches, and I will get 2 sandwiches, and I will pay for what I get. He forced me to pay for one half of my order while refusing to serve me the second part. This mocking and laughing is the most horrible racism I have seen. The branch manager was refusing to give food to a paying customer and proceeded to humiliate the said customer when she demanded to be served just like other people. What kind of a behavior is this?? Refusing service to someone and mocking that person and laughing about that person with fellow staff members is the lowest of lows I have seen in Dresden so far. I already have reported this to Subway and if you are brown, I will think twice before going here
