I was staying overnight in Köln, and I wanted to try out a real German Bierstube. At about 11 pm I stumbled into the Dominikaner. It looked like a real Bierstube, atmospheric and cozy. The lady in charge was clearing up, and the restaurant was empty. I asked whether I could have a beer, and she told me I was welcome.

I ordered a big Kölsch, a Korn and a pack of peanuts, all for some 8 Euros. Btw they don’t take credit cards. They were playing nice old rock music, and I was fine just being alone and gearing down in this wonderful atmospheric Bierstube.

When I was leaving, Biermutterl and I fell into chatting. She was very friendly and talkative, and she told me a lot of nice things about Köln und die Kölner.

A memorable experience ????

All in all my stay in Köln was great. Warmhearted friendly people, who are easily chattable, police and security personel here and there which makes me feel safe, excellent food, everything well ordered and cleanly the German way ????

Good fresh weissbier in a lovely old bar with a rich history. Here you can try a beer produced by the oldest still in business Brauerei. The service is fast, helpful and polite. I haven't tried the food but the smells comming out of the kitchen were very tempting. At the bar they have a vast paper currency collection and a lot of medals are displayed on the ceiling.

I Always visit this pub when ever i am in Koln, i love the decor it is very 80's and the music is very good. It feels like a proper local pub with both local and visitors going in there.

The beer and food are always top quality.

The bar tender is very pleasant with very good English.

As someone who enjoys small local bars with a personal feel rather than "hip" nightlife, this is absolute gold.

It's close to the hbf and the owner is an absolute gem.

The 80's-90's pop-synth sure doesn't hurt.

So if you're a +40 goth or equivalent, make sure you stop by here when you're drooling over the Köln cathedral, it's so close, and so good.

Really nice local bar, very friendly manager and great beer on tap.
Definitely worth a visit. Make sure you take cash, as it was cash only when i visited.
