This monument stands in tribute to Karl Friedrich Schinkel, a Prussian architect, city planner, painter and a prominent architects Neoclassical and Neo-Gothic buildings in Germany. Some of his buildings in Berlin include Berlin Opera House, Altes Museum and Potsdam Nikolaikirche, to name but three.
This monument features a sculpture of Schinkel, dressed in a cloak with a pen and drawing board in his hands. The sculpture stands on a square pedestal with caryatids at each of the corners referencing his Neoclassical buildings.
A fine monument to a fine architect.
