I'm actually pretty happy with my experience here and, especially as an American, being happy with a hospital is very new feeling for me. The people caring for me today were very kind and respectful to not just me, but I also observed them being compassionate and respectful to an unhoused man. They let him peacefully sleep and did not speak harshly to him. For myself, I am a very complex case and I have been injured several times from medical misunderstandings. I was worried my condition would worsen on the transit there so I prepared a list of my allergies and chronic situation. It was extensive and brought up a lot of questions, but no treatment was attempted until we all understood what was needed and how to address any risks. I felt very understood and that I had the necessary understanding of the doctors. We were able to safely begin treatment and I feel confident I will be safe at home. At discharge, I was not rushed and I had the opportunity to ask all the questions I needed. I was allowed to leave at my own pace - which is still slow because I still feel like hot trash - and I felt no pressure as though I was burdening anyone. I hope the philosophy and the compassion of my care team is the model for all employees. I really lucked out tonight and got some all-stars.
