We had a lovely dinner at the NEW Dóttir at Chateau Royal. Everything tasted amazing. Our table close to the kitchen however was a bit noisy. Prices are - for Berlin - quite high. Dinner for two with wine was 340 EUR (and we did not order any of the tempting upgrades to the 5 course menu like the cheese platter or beef tartar). So for us Dóttir is more for special occasions. The only thing we did not like was the choice of bread. It was more "Muffin" style, we prefer freshly baked sourdough bread for our dinner.

Sorry to say that I was fairly disappointed by my visit to Dóttir, although I believe it had a lot to do with some bad luck on the weekly menu. The first two dishes were fresh and flavourful, with vibrant colours and nice texture plays. Then the wolffish dish arrived, and it was just flat - too much so, for a main - and so salty that I can still feel the dryness in my mouth this morning. About the dessert: the combination of flavours was pretty vulgar and the cream cheese bit was a tad heavy, which was really not what I would expect after such a substantial dish. The starter crackers, bread and butters were a great, tasty treat, though! I had really high expectations and yeah, not the best value (or taste) for money I have had in Berlin.

Truly awful service, the worst restaurant experience I've had - ate here for a birthday celebration and although the food was really good, the service and waiting time completely spoiled the evening. We waited over an hour for our main meal, with staff deliberately avoiding our table, other customers came and went and we still waited. There was a hair on the plate of my brother's starter and my husband's plate was very smudged and dirty looking - these things will prevent this restaurant from being top end, even if they sort the service out. We were finally offered a free bottle of wine, but our meal had been ruined - all conversation turned constantly to the waiting time. Staff were not united, blaming each other and saying it simply happens. Meal ended with me asking for a discount, and having to argue for it. The evening ended with the manager telling me I was welcome to never come back. This is the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I wrote to the restaurant and the owner directly, but got no reply - which really pushed it over the edge. There's an unbelievably different level between the food coming out of the kitchen, and the staff running the floor. Would certainly not recommend if you want a pleasant evening.

If you just look at the quality of the fish dishes that are served at Dóttir, it’s easily for me the best fish restaurant in Berlin right now. Take two great Scandinavian chefs and give them access to the best seafood connection in town and voila, you’ll get amazing dishes with solid Northern roots that truly let the quality of the produce shine. The secret behind the seafood connection is extraordinarily successful restaurant group behind Dóttir that also owns Grill Royal and Pauly Saal and who have the means to source their own seafood twice a week by car from the North Sea.

Hands down best place to eat fish in Berlin. Exceptional value for money. Note: only single 4-course menu option with additional cheese option. Changes every 2 weeks. Go enjoy - it's awesome!

Looks like many other bars in Kreuzberg. Maybe that works for the Mitte people to feel hip and cool but in the end it's just the most effortless way of interior design and not new and creative in any way. Food is okay but really overpriced. Nice ideas but they didn't play out in the end. Too simple and tasteless for the money you have to pay. No WOW effect. Nothing that I would consider specifically Nordic. And simply not enough food on the plate. Cheese from the wagon, as stated in the menu, does not mean that they come with a cheese wagon like they would in France. Instead you get a small plate of four tiny pieces for €11. Great wine selection though. But horrendous prices. A bottle of Riesling € 68 and a Stauffenberg digestive € 14!!! The waiters are very nice but I didn't buy their 'professional' behaviour and the food explanations came across a little pretentious. Stay away from the French pressed coffee. It tastes awful. Unfortunately it's the only available coffee option.

About 2 dozen bones in my husband's fish. We complained, the manager said he was going to let the chef know, and that was the end of it. What this restaurant aspires to be and what it actualy delivers are very distinct things. Such a disappointing evening.
