This is one of those monuments you either love or hate. There are some conspiracies that Elvis lives in the car and only comes out at night to sell burgers......

It's ugly, but it's bonkers and so unexpected, I loved it! (both at 16 and at 40).

(Translated by Google) The sculpture 2 concrete Cadillacs in the form of the naked Maja by Wolf Vostell, created for the 750th anniversary of the city of Berlin in 1987, stands on the central island of the square, designed as a green lawn. The sculpture consists of two, each almost six meters long Cadillac cars. As part of this anniversary celebration, the Berlin Senate and the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein organized the exhibition Skulpturenboulevard on Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstraße. With his work, Wolf Vostell presented a "24-hour dance of car drivers around the golden calf" and thus pointed to the transience of "car culture". Strong public protests had formed against the erection of the sculpture. Hardly any other work of art was as controversial in post-war Berlin as this one. The Vostell family is responsible for the upkeep, the maintenance of the green space and the lighting is the responsibility of the Berlin Parks Office.
