I don’t like University hospitals. They always get students to do the regular doctor’s jobs. We had this one doctor who had to write everything and had to ask for the information over and over again. She also had to draw blood from both my child’s in-step and she pulled on them really hard like she’s doing it on a dog in vet clinic. She was nice though. But this is the thing about going to school hospitals.

They were however thorough. They did all the necessary steps to put our mind at ease as parents. It took us more than 7 hours before all tests were finished. I am giving this hospital a 4 because one night shift doctor who was really empathetic explained to us how it all goes and the possibilities why our child is feeling some pain. She was very reassuring. In general, it’s a better hospital compared to Klinikum Harlaching children’s hospital. It’a well lighted and looks cleaner.

About amenities, they have multiple changing spots and play room in waiting areas. The toilet was clean too and easily accessible.

BUT the wait time is extremely long. Takes hours.

This hospital is the worst ever experience ever had in my life. My 18 month old baby suffering from high fever(40°C) , severe cough and cold, unable to breathe well was made to wait for 8 hours+ straight without any food or water. My husband and I had to take shifts and stay inside as only one person is allowed to accompany the child. I'm writing this with so much frustration because of the fact that even now my child has not been treated yet and I'm still waiting outside while my husband is inside with baby.
We are really helpless trying to get our baby treated.
And it is so ruthless to see babies crying in pain and kept unattended for hours.
I would definitely not recommend this hospital to anyone who is looking for a good treatment for their children.

Just imagine you have your 12 months kid having above 39°C fever and crying all the time, stopped eating and drinking for over 12 hours. No even a pain killer was given to us. Requesting the staff for the reason, they tell you there are others before you.!!! How much time is needed to provide a pian killer. But still you need to wait for more than 4 hours until the doctor visits your kid. You have only statutory health insurance but others with private insurance are preferred. What a perfect social Democratic system. This level of hospital management is not anymore done even in poorest countries with no availabile hospital. Such a beautiful and efficient hospital management.
What a shame!

When will the city of Munich put more effort and budget into this hospital, in particular to the emergency room so that our children can have fully qualified and experienced doctors looking at them, rather than leaving interns do the job for them without live supervision. If you are privately insured, be ensured that the "Oberarzt*in" will come around for five minutes to say hello and check that everything is under control (and this simple visit will be reflected on the bill). I cannot understand how it is possible that blood tests can be erroneous, forcing the child to endure a second blood sample. So many times, people from Munich claimed they have the best hospitals, the best real estate, the best of everything. Obviously those people did not have children or did not experience their best (children) hospitals. Maybe if there were less hospitals for wealthy tourists (also less "Ferien Wohnungen", Airbnb), there would be more doctors and nurses available to work in public hospitals, so the LMU is not to blame for lack of personnel. I believe that if something is wrong with a child, it is in good hands when past the emergency room (ER), but the ER being the showroom of an hospital, there is nothing impressive in this hospital apart maybe the waiting time past 10am! There is clearly plenty of room for improvements, and I keep waiting for them for at least 6 years now. Let us hope for the best though with the life post covid (less tourists at last).

Quality doctors! However, not the same can be said about nurses! They are arrogant and answer ugly, they don't even let you finish what you have to say...
For this reason our hospitalization in this clinic was a bad taste experience as well as the services of the nurses .. I would not want to come back here. ????

I didn't even see a nurse. I went to the room labelled 'Triage' and there was no one there. I rang the bell, several times, as I was very worried about my daughter. Eventually a lady came to tell me off. I said for triage don't you see everyone immediately, and then send the serious cases to the front of the queue. Astonishingly, no. They don't triage for hours. How is that a good system? I was shocked by this approach. I can understand a long wait in a busy hospital. But not a long wait for the most basic traige. I guess you should call an ambulance instead of coming directly, as that's the only way to get attention it seems.

My son has chronic kidney disease. The nephrologists at this hospital, under the superb direction of Dr. Lange-Sperandio, have accompanied us from his birth. We have spent a considerable amount of time at this hospital. After going through everything we did, I would trust the department blindly. To put it simply, they are responsible for the fact that my son is making the best possible progress for his condition. Dr. Lange always went that extra mile to make sure that we knew what was going on, and encouraging us in the progress we made in helping with the treatment at home.

I get it when people complain that sometimes the student doctors are not so efficient (e.g. with IV cannulation), that waiting times are sometimes extreme, and that wards are overcrowded. For me, this comes with the "university hospital" package. For me and my family, it is a small price to pay for top-notch medical expertise at a public learning institution.
