You go to Germany for the bread and pastry, and Backwerk is a very accessibly way to get your hit. A good selection of fresh sandwiches, Danish pastry, bretzels, and the like. All the bread and pastry I tried were very fresh. The coffee is from an automatic machine, but drinkable. Service is friendly. This shop is next to the Leipzig University in a busy part of town, so it might be difficult to get a table during the peak hour.

Quick and inexpensive (2 euro cappuccinos). However, it's in the city center, so expect a long line everyday at all times.
