This fabulous cellar is the second oldest restaurant in Leipzig and serves some great German dishes with a range of local home brews. We had the traditional wild boar dish with sauerkraut, dumplings and a mushroom sauce and it was delicious. We also had the vegetable soup and the pork medallions, all which we would happily recommend. The service and waitress we had was superb and all in all a great experience. If you have to eat at one spot, make this the spot. You could see why a young Goethe loved frequenting it.

Cute, historical location with local dishes that are well-made. Wish we could have gone again to try other meals! Friendly waitstaff as well. Not a long wait on food despite the number of tables available. Great for those who would like to try some traditional and authentic German dishes. Reservation recommended!

Flavorful food, great service. Located right in the old town of Leipzig. Must be able to navigate steps as it is a true keller. Entering the building arcade/covered street starts the ambience off right.

A great choice for good food (especially meat) – sometimes big names come along with low quality, but not the Auerbachs Keller. We arrived around 6 pm without reservation and, thanks to the friendly staff, got a place in the „Großer Keller” even though it was quite crowded. The food was tasty, so was the beer recommendation. The prices are reasonable for the atmosphere and the quality of the food.

Nice place with delicious typical german food. This place has to be visited especially if you are a tourist. The portions are gigantic and the prices are fair. Be aware to book a table in advance. Recommend.

I spent a night in Leipzig on my way back to Switzerland from the Arctic Sea. I was recommended by the hotel receptionist to have dinner in this classic underground eatery, hence Keller, when I told her I wanted good local German food and a well produced Spätburgunder. I got a perfectly cooked filet of lamb, maybe not very pleasing to the eye, but more importantly, to the palate, followed by a local desert based on apples. The Spätburgunder was excellent. And the best was my waitress, serving about 25 clients with a speed and precision in her execution that I have rarely witnessed. Even les garçons in the Parisian brassieres would have had a lot to learn from her including how to give a good smile behind a face mask. Good value for money. High sound level.

Recommended.
Restaurant in the basement with a large hall.
Historical place. Worth seeing murals.
A real setting of the literary scene of the same name from the book "Faust" by the famous German poet and writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
High ranking as an internationally known restaurant in Germany.
Finally also card payment.
