First, a comment: not all rooms are large and airy. If you are on the third floor (in the European sense), you are directly under the roof and the space is constrained by the "sloping ceiling". However, that's not an issue, because even if you need to beware of the ceiling, the rooms are very nice, you get great windows opening onto the roof and if it happens to rain, the sound on the roof is great. I probably would ask again for a room on the third floor.

Otherwise, really nice staff, great breakfast, very clean rooms. And a nice location in the old city, with a 30 minutes bike stall just a few metres from the hotel in case you need to go to the new campus for instance.

Great location! Loved our beautiful room facing the river! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! Our last morning we went downstairs to find no breakfast prepared, however the breakfast was normally prompt and very good. Another concern is that the AC does not cool very well. We would definitely stay again though!

Highly recommend!!!
What a wonderfully romantic hotel, with the most comfortable bed, amazing location and can’t wait to return!

Nice hotel. Stayed in suite 42 which was nice and quaint. Room offered beautiful view of the river. Good breakfast with a nice setting in the cellar. Friendly service from multiple front desk personnel. Unfortunatley 2 main negatives are lack of parking and lackluster AC in our room. There is no hotel parking so you have to park a few blocks away in a garage. Hotel sent us a map of temporary parking in front of hotel to check in and unload bags but all spaces were taken. The room claims to have AC but the design of the room, with all windows being skylights, caused the room to be extremely hot. Like being in an attic in summer time. Room came with 2 oscillating floor fans which we needed both blowing full speed on us just to sleep at night. Opening skylight windows at night caused room to cool slightly but then allowed bugs and mosquitos in. Spent most of time in hotel covered in sweat. Had reservations for 4 nights but decided to check out after 2 to stay elsewhere. Hotel was unable to shorten our reservations so we had to eat the cost of the remaining nights but still thought it was worth it for some more comfort. Understand this issue is only present in summer snd probably just affects the rooms with skylights as the rest of hotel was cool and comfortable. Outside of the parking issue this hotel would be great for a couple's vacation.

Nice location.
Bedroom was tight but clean.
But there is “NO PARKING” of this hotel!
Hotel claims they have a contract parking, and they gave us one discount card. We noticed that the card was from June 2021 but we are here in August. We asked for an updated card, they refused, and in the end we have to pay the full price of the parking!
It’s really lame!

Me and my new husband chose this hotel for the romantic look of the room as our “mini honeymoon”. I requested champagne/ sparkling wine and they not only provided the wine they left a lovely note for us as newly weds, but the staff was so friendly and accommodating. Great location in the city center and a wonderful view! Highly recommend. Not a lot of close parking, but it’s a major city in Germany... what do you expect. Get those steps in!

This is the hotel that you should book if there is availability. I have done the research for you... I have spent two full days read reviews and looked every photo from various travel websites of all hotels around the old town area. I like that fact that you can see photos of individual rooms on their website. For someone picky like me, this is a huge plus. The reservation can be cancelled 24 hours in advance and you do not need to pay in advance either. The service was impeccable, you will always be greeted by their friendly office staffs if it is during the regular business hours. Most of the guests think the location is the best part of this hotel, to me their room is the best part of Vila Marstall. We have booked a midsize room facing the river. Absolutely love the view! With 12 feet (sorry, not sure about the exact height) ceiling, the room seems even bigger. Furniture choice is very tasteful.
