I can only recommend it, we stayed with a friend for one night, the room was clean, the staff super friendly and helpful, the location perfect, in front of the port. You have to climb many stairs to get there but it's worth it, you have such a wonderful view of the port at night, and benches to sit down and enjoy sunset. Also there's a supermarket around the corner.
I will come back.

I stayed one night and happened to get an empty room which was nice. The rooms were clean but there was no soap or anything provided which can be something to keep in mind when booking. Bring soap! The staff was really friendly and they had a bike garage where you could store your bike safely.

Don't forget to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your stay. This site will compare thousands of hotel sites and usually will have rates a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of the highest rated in the area. I've been staying here for a very long time. If you stay for a few days you for sure won't be disappointed.

Extremely well placed, wonderful view on the arbour, close to S and U bahn, 10 minutes by public transport from the main train station. Extremely nice staff, worrying for you and taking care that you have all what you need. Clean and welll equipped rooms. Great breakfast buffet, and nice cheap evening meal on reservation. Great place to stay in Hamburg!

Chose this hostel to spend a night in the city center, away from railway or bus stations.We did not match with this hostel.

There were several hidden costs: pay more because you are old, pay 4€ for towels, leave a deposit to use the TV in the lounge, etc. All the facilities are either locked or broken: to use the guest kitchen or laundry you should get a token at the reception; of 3 vending machines at the lobby, only one worked.

I was placed in the room on the underground floor with a big hole in the window, but when I asked to change the room, the receptionist seemed not to care about that at all. Overall impression of the service was like most of personnel don't care. All the receptionists speak English, but the kitchen staff don't.

The room was good (except the broken window): there are big lockers with electronic locks, shower in the room. The beds provide enough privacy, but the individual lights were hard to find.

My overall experience in the hostel was not very good

I had a really bad experience checking in, as i found MANY hidden costs. To make it simple:
1. You need a hostels international card in order to book, if you dont have - you need to pay an EXTRA 3.5 euro for each night for the first 6 nights. If youre over 26 - that bumps up to 4 euro for each night.
2. Need a towel? An extra 4 euro
3. Theres also tourist tax - for me it was 0.5 euro for the first 2 nights, then 1 euro for the third. The receptionist did not know to elaborate on the calculation.

Elevator was out of order for my whole stay.

I wasnt asked for green pass

Breakfast was mediocre

Bad and pillow were very uncomfortable

The location is pretty central and near the port

If youre a family - you will probably be comfortable in the common room
If youre not - you probably wont

The Hostel is quite good, good breakfast and very wide living room. The location is walkable from St Pauli which is also very nice.
You miss the young and party atmosphere though. We found a lot of people avobe their 50s which we didnt expect in a jugendherberge / Youth hostel and it could be a bit cheaper for the bunkbeds they offer.
