This monument stands in tribute to Otto von Bismark, the Prussian statesman who engineered the unification of the desperate German states into the German Empire.

This monument is a sculpture of truly monumental proportions at 35 metres high, it’s the world's largest Bismarck monument. The sculpture depicts Bismark standing upright, almost at attention. He is holding a sword with the point resting on the ground and both his hands are holding onto the handle of the sword.

It’s a pity the monument is defaced graffiti.

Very sad of what has become of this monument. It no longer deserves the tag 'historical monument', as graffiti has made for a terrible experience. There is no point in going here until the city has decided to clean it up and look after it. Even the path ways to the monument need to be redone. IMO, the worst 'tourist attraction' in Hamburg

Nice continuation of the park belt in Hamburg. Starting here you can go all the way to Alster Lake - never crossing one single street.

In the centre of a park, lies the imposing statue of the German statesman, Bismarck. The monument is best viewed from a distance.

The area around the monument was very lonely. I was advised by locals not to venture near this monument in the late evenings as it is frequented by drunkards. The monument was full of graffiti and it seemed to reflect what people thought about it.

Unfortunately this was closed off and had scaffold around it so we couldn't get too close

Must have been a great monument and park in the past, but now seems very ruined and sketchy. Trash everywhere as well. The monument is closed off and completely ruined with graffiti and the like.

All boarded up and full of spray painted graffiti. Glad we didn't walk far to visit, would have been pretty upset to arrive to this after a longer journey.
Sad to see the lack of respect people have for pieces of history.
I would not recommend travelling more then 5 mintues to visit. If you at the Landing Bridges, it is a short 5 minute walk up the hill. If you are further away, it's not worth the bother.
