Yesterday was my second time at Club Michel, and might probably be my last as well. Both times I visited the restaurant, I received such unpleasant experience.
(1) First time in December, I found a piece of sharp glass in an oyster. It was literally in my mouth. I reached out to the manager, then was offered a glass of wine on the house for compensation. In the end, I didn't take the offer and paid food and drinks on my own. Despite of the incident, I was very much satisfied with the food. I did not write a bad review but rather passed my words to the restaurant owner through the people who know him.
(2) Yesterday I brought a friend who had never been to Club Michel to the restaurant. I praised how great the food I had last time. We were seated at long tables shared with other groups. Where we were seated was right between a gap of two tables in front of the table's legs. My friend is 190cm tall, so it was quite uncomfortable for him (even for me). We moved to the chair next to us, so we could sit comfortably. Later on there was a group of four people seated next to us on the right with one chair in between our groups. On our left, there were empty five chairs.
In the middle of our main course (yes, while we were eating), a waitress commanded us to move back to our right as a group of six would being seated next to us. I used the word "command" as she said "you have to move now". It was rude. We moved anyway though I was very upset. I looked around and found that there were other tables that could fit these six guests. Even one or two tables were still empty at the time. But she rather came to us and asked us to move. I know there might be other guests coming but the restaurant (especially for this price) should have managed the situation better. Now we sat right next to other guests. Also, even though many covid regulations have been lifted but it still felt unease to be so close with strangers in a restaurant.
Yesterday's food was okay-ish. The seafood appetiser was delicious but overall not worth the price. The main course fish was really good but the sticky rice was poorly cooked (in my own judgment as I come from SEA and grilled sticky rice is quite common in SEA cuisine). The Entrecôte.. I don't know. We no longer enjoyed the food and left half of the meat after were told to move.
Normally, I am quite understanding and not demanding. If there were small mistakes, I would let them pass most of the time and tend to give the restaurant a second chance. For the Club Michel, this is their second chance after a piece of glass in an oyster. My mistake last evening was that I didn't make a complain to the manager. The services last evening was my last straw and I'm even feeling shame to write this review because the other staff members were wonderful. However, I won't let this one pass. For the price we paid, of course, I would expect more from Club Michel than from an Imbiss.
