4.5 really. Some of the other reviews have been really helpful here because there are no instructions when you enter.

- seat yourself at a table. Sometimes communal tables.
- eventually someone comes by and asks if you want 250ml beer from a tray. Tab is kept by marks on one person's coaster. You can also order a different bottle if you know what you want.
- empty glasses will periodically and automatically be refilled unless you tell them otherwise
- you can order food if you let them know. They didn't ask when we went.
- cash only. Waiter came over to settle when we were done by putting coaster on glass (another review mentioned this, and the waiter seemed to recognize this).

Expect a really laid back, hands off, roughish and casual ambience. Indoor decor was tasteful and reflected local culture.

A must do for bier drinkers in Düsseldorf! There is a process to drinking Altbier, (outside) waiters walk around with a tray of beer filled glasses, put one in front of you on a coaster, slash mark the coaster and continue til you have had enough. The bier origin is from the area and very light so you may have many slash marks! A vinegar hard boiled egg is a specialty eaten while drinking, my waiter taught me the proper way - You peel and cut the egg in half, mix the yolk in mustard, oil, vinegar and put back in the white halves. In and outside dining, outside tables can be communal. Excellent service!

Amazing authentic German food and generous portions. Do not miss spaetzle with fried onions, simply awesome. Unique atmosphere and feeling, the perfect place for socializing and drinking good beer with friends. The staff is nice and friendly too. Prices definitely fair. This place is a must if you visit Dusseldorf!

A bit of intimidating when you first enter or are looking for a table because no one gives you any information or guidance. You basically just find a table and sit down and without ordering the beers keep coming unless you say otherwise. Pretty interesting concept. Cool spot where you can drink and chill without anyone bothering you. The beer is super cheap and it tastes good.

Nice place with good beer, they brew their own typical beer. They go around and keep bringing you cold beer as soon as you finish one. Remember, to stop them, you need to place the cup holders on top of the glass. It is often crowded but you can find place anyway

One of the best local brewery in Düsseldorf!
The beer is just amazing.
Just the waiters are super busy and absent.

I love this legendary place! Have a good Alt there after work on Friday with friends - that's always a good idea! The atmosphere there is always great, especially I like it outside with all the little tables, people, sun and some street musicians
