The engines are available to view, there's food and beer on board, it's a great way to travel the Elbe and see Meissen etc.

You wouldn't want to miss a tour on one of those beauties. Very good service and a real treat for the kids too. You can see the paddles and crank shafts, very impressive. A real highlight on a visit to this amazing city.

I didn't expect the 3-hour round trip to Pillnitz to be so nice and relaxing! There are different boats, we took the oldest (cute and nostalgic) one, whose motor -like all else- shines of cleanliness. Tour *could* pass Dresden's Old Town a little bit to the west, in order to allow another view.

Sächsische Dampfschifffahrt, from the best Jaghs in Dresden and very clean from inside, they serve also food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, i like to try this cruise one more time for 1 and half hour

Make sure to arrive early during high tourist season, at least 30 minutes before to queue up for a good seat on the top deck. We were there 15 minutes before departure like we were told and had no proper place to sit. Had to grab some foldable chairs. Food and drinks are expensive. English tour recording was very hard to understand, heavy accent throughout. This might be a nice experience to some, as the river and views are lovely and the ride is very calm. But you'll be sharing this with other hundreds of people, so take that into consideration. There might be smaller companies with smaller boats that might provide a better experience.

They sell more tickets than they have seated places on deck. We had to stand up for two hours. In response to my complaint, I was told that we could have had seated places inside. Yeah right....that was our main reason to book a ships trip on a hot day in August....
It is a no-go if you want to get up somewhere along the track...
