One of the interesting statues at Neumarkt square in Dresden is the Monument of King Frederick Augustus II of Saxony, who ruled between 1836 and 1854.

This bronze statue was created in 1866 by German Sculptor Ernst Julius Hähnel and is of the king robed and in military attire, holding a scroll of the constitution in his right hand. He is peering forward and standing upon a pedestal, surrounded by four saintly figures attributes associated with the king. It is a nice classical statue, typical of those from the mid 19th century.

It is a nice monument to see for those who enjoy viewing such attractions during their travels. You will also see the Martin Luther monument at Neumarkt just in front of Frauenkurche. You can view both in just a few minutes of your time while sightseeing in the area.
