I really enjoy that place. Really nice people, not so crowded and a lot of interesting stuff in there :)
Takes about 1-2 hours to see most of the exhibitions.

Permanent exhibition (free entrance) is a nice overview over different ages and subjects, but it's only in German. They had very interesting temporary exhibition, which was worth paying additional 6 EUR. For museum lovers, you could spend here 1.5 - 3 hours. I was there for 2.5h but, some parts were closed.

Absolutely great museum! Entry to the regular exhibition is free (at least on Sunday) at it takes you on a tour through the ages and tells a story about how Dortmund and the area around it evolved throughout the ages, starting from the stone age, all the way up to modern day Dortmund. It is great to wander through the museum and admire some of the art on display.

Very intersting! Worth a visit. Items and documents which cover the history of Dortmund and the region.

A bit disappointing that many of the authentic documents are presented only as reproductions.

Interesting exhibits.
There is no English translation for them.
It’s free so it’s worth a visit.

The staff are very friendly. The museum is very clean and well maintained. The exhibition is very visited was very interesting and had lot of stuffs for the kids too. I would recommend it anytime ofr a visit, not only the art aficionados but also common people.
