The hotel sits on the side of a quite busy 6-lane-street in the center of Cologne and chances are, that your windows will face the road, so expect noise and exhause fumes, if you choose to open them. If you prefer to sleep with your windows closed, I hope you like it warm, 3 out of 4 rooms I was able to check-out felt like I was in the middle of the Sahara and there is no air conditioning. I was kind of lucky, to get a basement-room (see attached photos for my excellent view), because I cannot stand heat. If you get a ground-floor (or basement-) room, the only thing that seperates your room from the lobby is your rooms door, which doesn't stop sound from coming through very well, so bring your ear plugs. Mine additionally had a child-safety feature (or was broken) which meant I could not lock the door from inside. Also my window had no curtains and if you take a close look, you can see the neighbor's window right across, so if he chose to switch on the light, there was light, and nothing I could do about it. Everything in my room looked like someone who had pretended to be a craftsman had installed it, but in reality was the owner of the hotel next door. When you walked over the fake-wood-floor, you could notice waves in some spots, there were many things that would have taken a minute to repair (broken power outlet, curtains, cables dangling from the bathroom mirror), but were still broken. Is there anything good that I can say about this hotel? The cleaning people are doing quite a good job, my room was clean (I didn't check all the dark, hidden spots though), and the breakfast was also quite good. Also, it is in the center of Cologne after all. Still, I'm not going to stay here again.
