Wonderful Three Course Dinner

The Noble (not 100% agreed) Italian La Gazetta is located at the Lindner Hotel Dom Residence within walking distance to the Cologne Cathedral n Main Train Station. An easy telephone reservation, a warm greeting from both the Hotel Staff and Restaurants, a simple but cozy (n spacey) furnished Restaurant u0026 Bar with professionals Service and last but not least the wide range offer for great n tasty Dishes and Drinks.

Why do I dare to praise La Gazetta this high?
From time to time we use the Groupon Voucher (mainly for Dining) and experienced some very ugly moments. Not only that the staffs didnt think high of such guests and treat them badly but also the quality n quantity of the food are sadly bad. La Gazetta successfully proved it wrong.

Now lemme begin with our admiring Three Course Menu

Never did I have such a nice LOBSTER SOUP. I even never thought of humiliating Lobster that way! ;) Its just served the way it should be.

My FISH(fillet) in Veggie u0026 Rice was delicately cooked n tasty as well.

A dreamy Orange Sauce was the star my Crêpe and the Vanilla Ice Cream completed the 3rd Course.

BUT ...
before all the wonderful treatment began they already spoil us -in a very flattery way- with complimentary Fresh Bread and Olive Oil along with damn yummy Black (must try) n White Fleur de Sel and Fennel Seeds.

Ps. I'd have to be agreed with some critics (in German) that eventhough the Food are very moderate to low but the price of their drinks are quite high.

Wir sind ohne vorreservierung angekommen. Trotz vollem Haus wurde für uns noch ein Tisch generiert. Insgesamt waren wir zu dritt. Das Essen war einfach nur der Hammer ( vorsicht Suchtgefahr ). Das Personal war sehr freundlich, kompetent sowie witzig. Auch die Musikauswahl war mal etwas anderes. Macht weiter so.

It was just the ingredients for the pesto on the pasta. So first questions before the expectations are not met. Therefore 1 star less.
The second star is missing because a service force has talked to us about other guests after a critical comment on the meal. I overheard the conversation and the comments made by the staff were not friendly. Discretion would be in demand, even if you do not like the guest.
The breakfast buffet did not impress us. therefore we have renounced it.
Overall, the restaurant does not live up to the claim of the 4-star hotel.
We hope to find improvements to our staff's comments on the next visit.

Bei unserem letzten Aufenthalt im Hotel Lindner Domresidenz in Köln haben wir auch wieder das Restaurant La Gazetta (dem Hotel angeschlossen) besucht. Wir sind mit Service und Qualität der Speisen sehr zufrieden gewesen. Ein negativer Eindruck entsteht jedoch durch die Missverständliche Speisekarte: Ein "Cesar's Salad - Klassik" wird hier ohne klassische Dressing und mit Tomaten und Chicoreé serviert und eine Pasta mit "Pesto Genovese" ist auch nicht gleich "Pesto-Genovese". Es waren lediglich die Zutaten für das Pesto auf der Pasta. Also erst einmal Fragen bevor die Erwartungen nicht erfüllt werden. Daher 1 Stern weniger.
Der zweite Stern fehlt, weil eine Service-Kraft nach einer kritischen Anmerkung zum Essen mit anderen Gästen über uns gesprochen hat. Ich habe das Gespräch mitbekommen und die gemachten Anmerkungen des Personals waren nicht freundlich. Diskretion wäre hier gefragt, auch wenn man den Gast nicht leiden kann.
Auch das Frühstücksbuffet hat uns nicht begeistert. daher haben wir darauf verzichtet.
Insgesamt wird das Restaurant dem Anspruch des Hotels mit 4 Sternen nicht gerecht.
Wir hoffen nach unseren dem Personal gegenüber gemachten Anmerkungen beim nächsten Besuch entsprechende Verbesserungen vorzufinden.
