A fantastic collection of this artist who had an acute ability to capture the lives of her people and her times. Print series like "The Weavers", "The Peasants Revolt" and " War" sharply depict the lot of ordinary people, their anger and their hope for a better life. The War series reflects also her own grief at the loss of her oldest son in WWI.
I didn't know anything about Käthe Kollwitz before I visited the museum. I came away with a strong sense that she was an important witness of her times, an artist with a vision both sharp and tender, and one that probably deserves to be better known outside Germany than I suspect she is.

The Käthe Kollowitz is such a special space—first and foremost, they use their space to spotlight other artist whose careers have shaped our current understanding of art but go overlooked in larger museums/galleries.
Second, the thematic grouping of her works and the biographical snippets through the museum really connect the viewer to her artwork.
If you are in Köln discovering art, I highly recommend this space. Note the entrance is via the galleria and up, find the elevator to bring you to the top floor. They have a €6 entrance fee if you aren’t a student.

The museum is owned by the bank Kreissparkasse Cologne. It holds the largest collection of the artist Käthe Kollwitz. There is a very intresting collection of sculpturs as well as pen and ink drawings.
The artist lived from 1867 to 1945.

This small museum is dedicated to the deeply affecting works of Käthe Kollwitz. Kollwitz portrays love, strife and grief from a woman's perspective like no other and her message is as important today as it was in her lifetime.

Very much enjoyed the carefully curated exhibition Eva Besnyö photography, including interesting related artefacts. Nice rooms, quiet atmosphere, friendly people, worth the detour.

Impressive artist! Her drawings are dark and full of emotions.

I enjoyed looking round this gallery. The receptionist spoke perfect English and told us the route to take and where to put our backpacks.
