Newly renovated little church in the middle of the pedestrian zone. Was lucky to walk past on the last Sunday of the month, when they have an eucumenical evening prayer at 18:00. Beautiful music and good fellowship. Well worth checking out if you happen to be around for it. Everything seems to be in German though.

Google maps is incorrect listing this as a "Catholic Church". According to their website at (), its called "Antoniterkirche" and became the first Protestant church in Cologne in 1805.

One way or the other, it's a beautiful stone church with interesting doors that is situated directly opposite a very modern glass structure. We didn't go inside because it was Sunday and there was a service in progress.

Very open and modern community. The church lies in the heart of the city and is really a sight even for tourists. There's a cafe in the yard. Don't miss it!

AKA Church of St Anthony. Lovely church I found in the shopping district. During WWII the church sustained severe damage. I enjoyed the different stain glass they have compared to others. It was installed in 1966 and the designer was Alois Plum. The baptismal dates to the 12th century. They did save the chior window from 1520. Stop by worth it.

Beautiful church with a lot of history in it. Barlach der schwebende is essential German history.

Striking simple interior, very calm feel. Went to see Barlach's angel. The angel is wonderful, both in its design and history. Nice little souvenir shop.

In 'Only the Longest Threads', Tasneem Zehra Husain explains in clear and simple prose the major breakthroughs in Physics, starting with Isaac Newton and his concept of universal gravitation, and continuing with James Clerk Maxwell and on past Albert Einstein to the present time. Since Einstein's monumental achievements, the search for understanding of the universe has required increasing collaboration, culminating in the many thousands of scientists now involved with the colossal proton splitter many miles under the Swiss French border. This growing complexity has made it more and more difficult for the interested layperson to understand what is going on. Husain's extraordinarily effective solution is to tell each story through the eyes of an imagined contemporary observer, thus conveying the excitement and wonder that came with each new understanding of our physical world.
The book is grounded in deep research of place and period, and distinguished by straightforward style and clear insights.
