Cologne is a great little town but *generally* not known for its incredible food scene. Places like this are why. While the trappings look promising, the food is bland and mediocre. The steak (rib-eye) wasn't a great cut, and came out (very) rare instead of medium-rare. They also haven't figured out the value of a good steakhouse sear; I hate to be that guy but if you can't sear a steak why even bother?
On the plus side, the vegetables are actually really good. I had the grilled asparagus and would recommend it. Their charcuterie and cheese is also not half bad, but the bread they serve it with is tragic.
Their wine selection is reasonable given their location, but nothing to write home about. I had one slice of a pizza and was not impressed.
If you're in Cologne and want Italian and a movie for a date with someone you already know, maybe try this place. You will find it to be "okay" or at worst something you can chuckle about later. And it is right next to the theater. If you need to impress someone, however, accept the slower service and limited menu of a place like Da Damiano and skip Adaccio.
