we went here for a school trip and I really enjoyed glimpsing at all the beautiful paintings.
the rooms are rather cold, so make sure to either go here in summer or wear a sweater!
rooms, toilets and gallery are all clean, the staff also is really polite and friendly!

The place is nice and open, and the Alexander Calder instalation was beautifully put together. There is a possibility to interact with some chess boards, but we did not have the opportunity to because there was no information on where to get the pieces. The permanent collection has lots of prints, pictures, sculptures and an specific area about the museum itself. After visiting other main museums in town, this one seemed less gratifying.

What a great museum! Not a huge collection, but very important works of 20th century expressionism. And we considered the way the works were displayed as the best we’ve ever experienced. Additionally, the timed tickets kept the crowd to a minimum. A must see for lovers of German (mainly) art and sculpture from that period.

After so many years of renovation, it is open! I am a regular there and I cannot get enough of it. The collections, the atmosphere, and just being there is a treat. Get the annual membership! You won’t regret it.

A great art collection from the first half of the 20th century. The museum is just the right size, allowing for a full visit without getting too tired.

One of my favourite building’s in the world, a must see for modern and international style architecture buffs. Mies Van der Rohe is one of my favourite architects and this is one of his finest work. Ironically a gallery, for me the building itself is the greatest artwork. The whole structure has just undergone a massive restoration and renovation, meaning that the whole site is brand new and shiny and as glorious as it was when it first opened. Even without going in there’s plenty of modern sculpture to admire on the plaza surrounding it as well as view down to the sculpture garden. The whole place is ringed by a bench you can sit or lie down on and relax. Located about a 5 minute walk from the U2 U Bahn station Mendelssohn Bartholdy Park and about a 10 min walk to the major Bahnhof Potsdamer Platz. Definitely worth a stop by especially for architecture enthusiasts…

A design classic by Mies van der Rohe freshly renovated. Fascinating to see with some great exhibits on the lower floor. It’s somewhat astonishing to me that the classic superstructure that you see as a pavilion has little purpose and the gallery is below. There’s a lovely lower garden too with sculptures and planting and amazingly no balustrade protection at the top to stop people falling - there’s a polite sign in German and English to say don’t step on here or you might fall…! We wouldn’t get away with this in the uk…!
