The good: The staff was great. The room was rather nice (we had a junior suite). Great views. Amazing location. The restaurant downstairs had amazing food (try the liver and/or the wienerschnitzel) and the warm and liquidy chocolate cake. Room service comes from the same kitchen and is equally good.

The bad: A spa without a hot tub or pool and a sauna and steam room that didn't work. The staff really tried to help, but the saune a just sat there at 45°C and wouldn't budge. The steam room made lots of sounds, suggesting that steam was imminent, but alas, after 30 minutes we gave up on it. No USB ports in the room, requiring the use of adapters and converters. USB power ports should be a regular staple in all hotel rooms at this point. No sound system to plug your own devices into.

The Odd: The bathroom has an odd layout with too many doors that get in each other's way. Not too bad though. Music boxes built into the wall. I kid you not - you pull on a string and music starts playing as the string retracts. One above each nightstand. Do with that what you will, but seemed like a German form of cute to me...

Impeccable service. Great breakfast restaurant, and the room living up to it's five star rating. I hope to stay there again when visiting Berlin again. If you have visited Berlin Stadtmitte long time ago, prepare for a surprise. The entire are is transferred into a dynamic and pleasent district for shopping, dining and enjoying Berlin.

Great location... great restaurant. Spent three days and two nights and had no issues. The breakfast buffet is served in the Atrium Cafe. Standard European breakfast. I also ate at the Aigner restaurant, which has a Austrian German centric menu that was great. There are several museums and historic sites that are not far to walk.
...and you have shops and restaurants in the square across the street.

Great location. Tube and mall are close. Around Christmas you are right next to a Christmas market! Most extensive breakfast ever seen in a hotel! Would go here again! Very friendly people work in the hotel. They even offered us water and towels when we got back from our run!

Rooms incredibly small. Some of the staff tended to be rude and unhelpful. Evening services including room service extremely limited and not as advertised, nor even really available. Every snack in the minibar contained peanuts ????u200d♂️????u200d♂️. Not five star and definitely not what I’d expect from the Sofitel. Avoid - there’s much better places in Berlin.

This is a nice 5 stars property centrally located in Gendarmenmarkt with only 95 rooms. Within walking distance to
Museumsinsel (museums island). Helpful and friedly front desk staff and a top nouch concierge. Highly recommended if you are planning a trip to Berlin.

Room was on the small side but had really great views across the square. Also our tv did not work properly and despite calling reception, it couldn't be fixed. Hotel is well located for museum island and other sight seeing.
