The breakfast is great. The bed is firm and the largest size (standard) is essentially a full size. Not big enough for two medium-sized adults to sleep comfortably. Otherwise hotel was quiet and basic. Check-in desk was nice. Option for free drink instead of having room cleaned was a nice perk. Bike rental outside was handied than bike share services around city. No gym or pool though, if you're into that sort of thing.

Great staff, nice breakfast, epic shower. Bed wasn't the queen that we were promised but the room was fine. Excellent room cleaning scheme where you get a few drink if you don't need your room cleaned the following day.

Place is run down, one of the elevator doors opened very slowly, faucet made banging noises when used, they lost water for about an hour, rooms are tiny and the bathroom was horrible to move around in, the door closed inwards and had to close or open the door to use the toilet, then close it again to use the shower. No room to do much in, but that is relatively to be expected in Europe. Cleaning staff kept knocking on the door to clean the room before check out time. Didn't care for one of the night shift guys attitude, seemed he didn't like Americans, the rest of the staff was friendly enough though. The place was close to a lot of things in the area, so location was good. Breakfast was good as well.

We spent 5 days here in October. The location is excellent as it's only a 5 minute walk to the zoo. There is no food here only a continental breakfast which was very good. The staff are very good also. The only negative was the lack of aircon in the room. We had a few days of 20 degrees plus and the room was unbearable. Apart from that a great place to stay in Berlin.

We stayed for 6 nights, the room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good and perfectly serviceable for our needs.

The people working the hotel are delightful and helpful and we couldn't be happier with their service.

Next time we're going to Berlin, we'll be staying here for sure.

This hotel staff was top notch! They did whatever they could to make our experience enjoyable and really went above and beyond. This is the first hotel of any we have ever stayed in where the manager was always around, visible and assisting customers. She is an amazing manager of this hotel! Great job Holiday Inn Berlin!!! The minus one star is because of the hotel cleaning staff. They didn't always do a thorough job cleaning the room. The bed was never made very well and some days we didn't get restocked coffee/tea and cups. And I don't know that I ever saw/heard a vacuum cleaner...

I stayed here three nights while in Berlin so I saw enough to form an opinon not based on a one off. HIE is normally a solid, reliable bet for decent quality at a decent price. This one for me is not up to the usual standard. This is no fault of the staff who were all really friendly and helpful but the hotel itself has issues. It is clean for sure but very drab and tired. Some things didn't work (tv) and the breakfast was mediocre with tables left uncleared. It is very busy, and you get the feeling it is understaffed at key moments and the staff are overwhelmed.
If you want somewhere for one night or are on a tight budget then yes it is cheap and well located but would not currently recommend for longer stays.
HIE owners should invest some money in renovating the place and support the excellent employees who are doing their best.
