One of those places you'll only find if you're lucky enough to stumble over it or if you're brought there by a local. A genuine secret corner of Berlin with a unique vibe. Feels like a slice of Neukölln or Kreuzberg in Gesundbrunnen.
The food was quite good and beautifully presented. The vibe outside as the sun is getting lower is pretty awesome if you're lucky enough to get an outside table. In general, come here for the vibe though (and the food, if you're patient). I would normally not be critical about the wait time for food in any place as I don't mind waiting quite a while for good food, but this place is on the border of mismanagement with the wait times for food. Hearing a food order come out only once every 20 minutes or so, even if they only have one cook on duty, tells me something is wrong with the operation (especially since they're cooking crêpes). BUT, I'd most certainly still come back with this all in mind next time just to sip drinks in the cool ambients for 90 minutes before eating with friends or something. I think a good compromise would be if they had some kind of signature snack which held people over and salted them up to order more drinks during their food wait times. Just a thought.
Anyway, the service was very nice and attentive regardless of the wait and I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants a slightly more down-to-earth, gritty Berlin experience in the midst of a neighborhood which is becoming more hipstery now but likely won't catch up to the artsy scenes of Kreuzberg and Neukölln for at least another 5-10 years.
Thanks, guys. We enjoyed ourselves.
