This bar is pretty hidden in the back of the hotel. You can either enter the hotel front entrance and walk toward the back or take the side entrance. There is a side entrance that has red lighting and just says “bar.” In the summer they close out the bar area and move everything to the roof top and offer summer cocktails. The roof top area is about 1/3 of the bar size.
The bar is very welcoming with an old library feel with bookcases lining one side of the room and artwork with sofas lining the other side. The bar menu is large and offers some interesting cocktails. Unfortunately we came on the last night they were open before moving to the rooftop bar, meaning a lot of fresh ingredients were not available. There is no beer on tap, if you are coming here for beer.
The cocktails here are a concoction of mainly alcohol with very little or no juice/sodas as a mixer, unless you order a gin tonic. The drinks are quite strong, but a bit small. In my opinion, if I am going to pay the same price as a cocktail as what I do in Zurich, but in Berlin, I should be blown away about how amazing this drink will be. I honestly did not find anything on the menu that I wanted, especially since everything was not available. I asked the bartender to make me a drink. It was ok.
FYI: There is only one bartender working here, so if it is full or you are a huge group, then don’t be surprised if you have to wait a while to get your drink.
All in all, the bar has a nice ambience and the bartender is competent, but for the price, I would rather spend my 15€+ for a cocktail somewhere else.
