We went to Delice this week for my birthday. The restaurant is small with only a few tables, allowing for an intimate dining experience. The 5 course menu was a perfect balance of sweet and savory and the amuse-bouches were delicious. The plating was also playful and vibrant. Nearly each dish was perfect. The wine pairings were also very good. I specifically enjoyed the Israeli red (Recanati Carignan Reserve) from Judea, it was unique and smooth. I love trying wine from unexpected regions and it paired nicely with the Rinderfilet dish. Although the chef did not present himself to the table, the maître d’ did a good job of presenting each dish and wine pairing and was very knowledgeable. The only con of the evening was the maître d’s excessive need to drop small pretentious political comments towards our table. I found it distasteful and unnecessary, especially since he seemed so personable. I did my best to not let it ruin what was overall an AMAZING birthday dinner.
