We had to visit the emergency services for an urology on a Saturday night, 2nd October. My father had strong pain due to an unknown renal calculus at the time.

I take this opportunity to thank the urologist who treat him as well as the nurse. The attention was in English because he was here only in a short visit. The staff was very professional and did a deep review (considering it was an emergency) of the causes, including a magnetic resonance.

It’s the first time we had to visit a hospital in Germany but for this kind of good services pays off to have higher taxes here and been contributing to it.

Thank you.

Im new to Germany and was given the name of a Dr. by my insurance. So to even get information I had to take a number. Who knows if they will be able to help. I have to wait for a possible, sorry we can’t help you.

I called in seeking medical assistance with my acute lower back pain. The staff, although spoke good English, treated me in an extremely patronising fashion. They would not listen to what I wanted to say. Instead, they treated me with an air of superiority and hang up… this is not what you expect when you’re in desperate need to obtain medical assistance. I definitely won’t recommend this venue to anyone.

I had a very horrible experience with klinikum Nord. I reached the Notaufnahme one night after 11 pm after experiencing an unusual chest pain and breathlessness for the first time in my life. I lay in the emergency department the whole night till morning (more than 7 hours) without a physician checking me. I was initially very rudely welcomed by a female nurse because I didnt understood her German language completely. I am myself a doctor having worked in multiple countries and I had expected that the Personal in this hospital know that Chest pain and breathlessness in a young person is an emergency even if my blood shows 98% oxygen saturation and my initial Troponin levels and Ekg are normal. The nurse on duty stated rudely that I have a normal oxygen saturation as if I was putting on an act that I had breathlessness. I am a trained physician and I know that oxygen levels in blood fall very late. Then I was put in a room to wait for the doctor. I kept walking in the room the whole night restlessly because lying down increased my shortness of breath and anxiety. No doctor or nurse came to check my condition. What kind of an emergency department is this? If you've lived in countries like UK or even India or China, a doctor should at least have a first look at a breathless patient within 1 hour. What if it's an Asthma attack or a myocarditis or a pulmonary embolism ? I thankfully didnt had none of these but a patient with chest pain and shortness of breath can die if you just leave him in an empty room. I waited 7 hours thinking the emergency is maybe full of patients with more severe problems. There weren't many. I finally told the nurses that I need my blood and ecg reports so that I can see for myself if I have something serious. I was refused my own reports. Then at 6 a.m in the morning came a doctor who asked a few questions, then realised that they should have repeated the cardiac enzymes as a follow up. As a myocarditis or ischaemia can have initially normal blood levels. I needed to make him realise that. Then started the x ray and blood test after 7-8 hours. Then the doctor had feierabend and left. Then came a new doctor at 9 a.m in the morning who said everything is okay. What about my symptoms ? They were not at all reduced and I couldn't lie down because of breathlessness. I never had such symptoms nor do I have psychosomatic issues. She came up with absurd diagnosis like muscular pain etc. I asked her how she could rule out a cardiac cause without Echocardiography. She said we dont have a cardiology deparment in klinikum Nord and I should visit a cardiology praxis. I then waited till 10 a.m for an Arztbrief and finally left the hospital without a diagnosis or a treatment of my complaints. I called up all cardiology praxis in Nuremberg and the earliest termin was after 1.5 Months. Klinikum Nuremberg must seriously consider training their doctors to handling emergency situations. The doctors duty is to diagnose and treat the patients complaints and not spend hours writing long Arztbriefs saying we excluded this and this disease and did so and so tests.
