Nice short tour that only costs 4 euro and lasts about 30 minutes. I think it starts every 30 minutes. You get to go in the old dungeon and see the actual torture devices and stocks they used back in the day. Pretty cool walk through.

The Medieval Dungeons (Mittelalterliche Lochgefangnisse) are found in the vaulted cellar of the Nuremburg City Hall. You can visit the dungeons by registered tour (€4 includes audio guide) held on the hour (10am to 4pm) and lasting around 30 minutes. Tickets purchased at the ticketing desk just as you enter the building.
During the tour, a German speaking guide will lead you through the historic dungeons, point you to the correct stopping places and let you listen to the audio guide so that you understand the significance of each room.
Overall, we found this tour to be educational. The torture rooms, dungeon master living quarters and other aspects of the dungeon were informational and interesting. We liked the tour. Would probably only do this activity once personally but believe it is worth considering for those interested in Nuremburg history.

Highly interactive and good education. The museum describes the 15th century regarding the Nürnberg Town hall and describes how the dungeons and torture took place. The tour is free and is audio tour guide in 4 languages, Spanish, Italian, English, and German. After the tour there are other sites recommended which is free and I would recommend for those who seek to explore and learn or pass time in the Medieval Dungeouns. ????????????????????

This is how to get your voucher for the Dungeon
You arrive an hour early before designated time to start the tour.
Don't do what we did, we arrived at 1245 for the 1300 tour. Thinking we can slide in, we were wrong. Only 20 people max can enter the tour and once you get your voucher if you had plans to leave and come back before the tour starts, good luck trying to get in because the guys at the window will kick you out for leaving. (So you wait in their waiting room for an hour or so) The tour is free but donations at the end are recommended. Also, people are savages and will cut in front of you if you don't pay attention, so stand your ground and get your voucher!!!
Speak as much English as possible, the guys love it. They especially, love it when you ask them to speak English because they speak nothing but German. He told a lady in English, If you don't speak German, I don't speak English. Again, it's a free tour which is probably why they're rude.

IF I could do ZERO stars I would simply on the HORRIBLE process for this tour as noted by previous reviewers! It is offered hourly during open hours and when you show up they do not provide tickets or numbers for your place in line. Only 20 people are allowed per tour and there were multiple groups that only had one person in line that showed up five minutes prior and were allowed to proceed. Moreover, we were rejected, only to discover two were allowed after us without explanation and we returned a second time thirty minutes prior per the instructions of the person at the desk and waited in line only to miss the tour again. As Americans we were handicapped by not understanding the language, but were assisted by two German gentlemen in front of us who were also denied under the same circumstances and complained profusely in German at the Process. They indicated the staff didn't care nor policed the line. Might be an excellent visit, but be prepared to wait at least an hour prior to the tour and do not leave! VERY disappointing with only a day in Nuremberg!

Don't miss this experience. Free (donation only), with an audio guide included. A lot of grim history to see. I took a star off because the free tour takes 20 people at a time and it's too cramped in many areas. 15 or 10 people would be ideal.
