It's a youth hostel in part of a castle, but inside, is perfectly modern. They have rooms with private bathrooms available if you book early enough, and they also have shared-bath rooms, that you can split with friends. Because of its nature, and location, and amenities, it's a very popular destination for school groups. So don't be put off if you end up sharing your stay with hundreds of boisterous youngsters on school trips.
The breakfast they packed in advance for my group that had to leave early in the morning before breakfast hours was up to standard u0026 quite satisfactory.
The staff is friendly and accommodating, but also busy handling the hundreds of guests they deal with daily, so don't be frustrated if it takes a few minutes to get taken care of. They do a good job but are not over-staffed.
The views from the upper floors are worth the walk-up, or the wait for the elevator. Yes, there is an elevator. ;-)
