Incredible items here that are second fo none in the World. Have to wonder just how such items were acquired. Good addition to visiting the Munich Residence and theater. Probably quite the sorcery in some of these items while the family pretended to be Christian like to the public and had witches and such burned at the stake.

The Treasury (Schatzkammer) is one of the major attractions at Residenz in the Old Town of Munich. This is where visitors can view the impressive riches of the Whittelbach's dynasty which date back many centuries. Opening hours are 9am to 6pm daily and entry price is €7 per adult.

Note: This is a separate museum to the Residenz Museum. However, you can purchase a combo ticket (€11 per adult) that includes entrance into the Residenz Museum. There is another combo ticket (€13 per adult) that allows access to the Cuvilliés Theatre as well.

We very much enjoyed viewing the royal crowns, jewellery, impressive goldsmith works, crystal and ivory pieces and other treasures amassed by the Whittelbachs over the centuries. The collection is filled with beautiful pieces providing an enjoyable sightseeing experience.

Note that entrance includes audio guide which allows you to learn about the historical accounts of each individual treasure stored up in the 10-12 rooms of Schatzammer. If you browse leisurely and listen to the commentary for the highlight pieces, best to allow around 45-60 minutes. However, you could easily spend several hours if this is something you enjoy.

I have always wanted to go since I saw it featured on an episode of Rick Steeves. For me, it's the best part of the Residence and suggest spending most of your time here unless you love looking at old furniture.

Very nice pieces of art. Masterfully worked. I also enjoyed that they displayed the pieces according to material or time, very interesting.

Nice adjunct to the residenz which you can get a combination ticket. Large collection of valuable items, very varied and interesting. Audio guide is good, and if you listened to every item it would take over 5 hours (according to them)! So pick and choose what most grabs your eye.
