I recently purchased a very expensive dirndl at Lodenfrey, all together (dirndl, blouse and jacket) my purchase was well over $2000. The dirndl had a small fabric appliqué coming off and so I had to leave it for them to repair it. I picked it up the next day: they folded the dirndl unceremoniously in a bag with some tissues around it. I was surprised at how they handle an expensive purchase. I would have expected it to be handed to me on a hanger. A few days later I took it out and started ironing it, that is when I saw a rip in the fabric at the back hem. My guess is that a previous customer went through the fabric with a heel while trying it on. I contacted Lodenfrey and they asked me to bring it in. They offered to fix it, did not blink when pointing out that I had paid full price for a very expensive dress that they should have checked for wear and tear. They offered no discount, not even offered to pay for transportation.
I had no choice but to have it repaired. I came back the next day, for the third time, and again they shoved the dirndl into a bag and surrounded it with a few pieces of paper. No excuses for the fact that they sold me a damaged 1700 euro dress, no excuses for the fact that I had to go three times to their store, no excuses for packaging merchandise in such a way that customers end up having to iron at home. Overall a shame. This is the 5th dirndl I buy at Lodenfrey (I have three daughters) and the third from Heidi Couture. Heidi Couture has a store in Munich and that is where I will go next time we need a dirndl.
