There are a couple of monuments around the city to Kurt Eisner, the first Prime Minister of the Free State of Bavaria, Kurt Eisner, who was assassinated in 1919. This memorial is located along Promenadplatz.

Here you find a peculiar memorial embedded into the surface of the pavement, marking the spot of the assassination of Eisner. The monument creates an outline of the slain Prime Minister. There is a small plaque with information regarding the Eisner at the head of the memorial.

This odd little monument stands in tribute to Kurt Eisner, who in the wake of the end of the First World War organised the Socialist Revolution that overthrew the monarchy in Bavaria. On this very spot he was assassinated by the a German National by the name of Anton Graf von Arco auf Valley. The monument features an iron slab embedded into the pavement with the outline of a body.

The monument is easy to walk past and miss as it's on the pavement. It can be found on 14A Kardinal-Faulhaber-Strasse, just outside the Gastbi clothing store.

Initially walked past and into the shoe shop, later visited braunhaus museum and learnt about kurt eisner and the dark turn this socialist movement took - why wasnt Munich raised and the ground poisoned for 1000 years ? - anyhow went back to the shop later to pick up shoes and was able to undestand and spare some time to think of Kurt Eisner at this place 100 years later.
