i respect the work doctors and nurses put in and the whole time i was here i tried to be patient and helpful, but honestly i was in the most pain i was in my life and only a fraction of the staff was nice or even helpful.
i'm aware this hospital isn't in charge of all ambulances in the city, but it's noteworthy that i waited for over 2hrs for an ambulance before giving up and calling a taxi.
at the hospital, while i was hoping for some relief finally, i was instead met with rudeness, or nothing at all. after describing my debilitating symptoms, and trying to go over my previous diagnoses all the while suffering from crippling headaches and nonstop vomiting, i was put in the hallway to wait. for hours. while still throwing up. they didn't let me go to the bathroom, they didn't exchange my puke bags, i didn't get any treatment until 2 in the morning after first calling the hospital at 7pm. i remember asking for something against the nausea, and being laughed at by a nurse. i was made fun of by the EMTs at the door for coming for something that "wasn't that serious".
it was a heat stroke, for the record, which can be deadly.
the nurse who finally tended to me was very kind, but i wish i could say the same for the rest of the staff. i will not be returning if i can avoid it.
this is all a very long review just to say: literally just drive to heidelberg uniklinik instead. i wish i did.

I praise GOD that I was sent to UMM. They provide excellent health care. I count myself blessed to have met the finest and most caring staff in this hospital. More power to the UMM Family.

Hi All,
I recently had a surgery here and i would like to share my experience:
First of all I felt very well looked after during my 4 days / 3 nights stay, by the professional and really friendly team of the hospital.
Doctors are the best as well as the nurses, they answered all my questions and made sure that I feel safe and I know that I will be okay! - and my surgery went very well too!
For them the Nr. 1 priority is the good health of the patient, and for that they are ready to go the extra miles any time, over and beyond!
On the scale of hospital cuisines must say that the food was also good: the dishes were decent and tasty with unlimited coffee/ tee and water. :)
Overall I highly recommend this hospital to anyone!
Big thanks again for the help u0026 support and kindness for the Team!!
Kindest regards,
Martin

University clinic of Mannheim is the biggest hospital in Rhein-Neckar Region.
Stuff, Nurses, Doctors are very friendly. I gotta give 4 stars because I waited for 6 hours to get surgery, although I was told to come at 7 am, my surgery started 6 hours later.

I would love to tell that the most comments already made are wrong, but unfortunately I can't. For self-experience, the emergency room is first of all confusing. And then, although the people who received me were friendly, the doctor was not. Put psychological pressure on me, who had already enough psychological pressure from the long discomfort and pain. He was very clumsy and unfriendly, and looked like he didn't enjoy his job at all. Also, tried to explain to me that emergency is in case of life threatening issues. So, I guess if I am in the beginning of an illness, and I want to avoid it to become a life threatening issue, I should not come... I should wait until it goes to a more severe state to cure it? I honestly have heard already about emergency rooms rejecting sick people in Germany, because it is not severe enough and they suggest to look for a private doctor. I did before coming here, what I didn't know was that calling a private doctor was not enough, I really needed to go directly to a doctor office, so they can make an appointment on the same date, if they think it is needed (it was needed for me) - exchange/international student advice! So I was not able to find a doctor that cured me quickly and in despair I went here. In the end, the doctor gave me medicine that didn't cure me, only made the pain better. I had to go to a Private doctor 2 weeks after for the same issue. It is my second time in Germany, and before I only had good experiences where I went - Wiesbaden public hospital. Right now, I am very disappointed. I don't understand why they are one of the top national hospitals. Not for emergencies of my kind.

In our daily life, many of us end up to have jobs that we don't like so much and are only there to help us financially. However, this should not be the case in a hospital. In a hospital you should like to help people and care for them. Even if someone goes there without a real physical health issue, they probably have a psychological one. Don't pretend that the pain doesn't exist. You settled for this. High levels of education exist so we can choose to work on something we are passionated about.

Jesus, if you are not bleeding or dying, nobody will take you seriously there. I have been there a few times now and always the same. Does not matter what is wrong with you, the doctor will tell you to take Ibuprofen even though they can tell there is something wrong and quite serious. The emergency doctor there is basically just someone who sees if you can at least function or talk, and tells you to go home and have ibuprofen and wait for the appointment with the proper doctor after two months. Even for serious neurological matters which might deteriorate very quickly. I can understand that there are many hypochondriac people out there who seek treatment all the time, but if you can see the person in front of you really in discomfort, try to do something, not just send them home and tell them to take Ibuprofen for a few weeks. Because a broken leg might be an emergency, but a broken ear might be a more serious one if not treated immediately.
