THE place to stay in Lübeck Altstadt. Very cosy hotel close to everything. The outside and the inside is from the year 1216, but very modern rooms. Very attentive and kind personnel - feels like home. Breakfast is a bit sparse, but 100% organic.

Upon arrival, the receptionist made no warm and experienced impression. Rather, he was busy with the procedure and a phone call. The welcome/instruction seemed unwound and not very personal.
It caught the eye that the stairway is very dusty. When we got to the room, everything seemed okay at first. When inspecting the beds, the evil quickly became apparent. Both toppers were covered with yellow edges and stains on both sides. The pillow tickings were also stained. The box spring mattress was not covered and the "exit edge" was already scuffed. The faux leather headboard was cracked and starting to peel off.
This state of affairs was absolutely unacceptable.
As a solution, we were offered to leave the toppers off, there was no replacement and the hotel was fully booked. That was not acceptable to us.
We were then helped to look for and find another place to stay.

We had imagined the birthday of my companion really differently.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel more highly.
But I was assured that you want to take care of this vulnerability.

Wir hatten uns sehr auf den Aufenthalt gefreut und haben uns anlässlich eines Geburtstags etwas "gegönnt".

Die Lage ist toll! Kurze Wege zum Bahnhof, in die Altstadt und zu allen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Ein historisches Haus direkt am Wasser gelegen. Saniert und durch modernes Design ansprechend gestaltet. Soweit so gut.

Bei der Ankunft machte der Empfangschef schon keinen herzlichen und routinierten Eindruck. Vielmehr war er mit dem Prozedere und einem Anruf beschäftigt. Die Begrüßung/Einweisung wirkte abgespult und wenig persönlich.
Es fiel ins Auge, dass der Treppenaufgang sehr staubig ist. Im Zimmer angekommen wirkte Anfangs alles okay. Bei der Besichtigung der Betten wurde das Übel schnell sichtbar. Beide Topper waren beidseitig übersät mit gelben Rändern und Flecken. Auch die Kissen Inletts waren fleckig. Die Boxspringmatratze war nicht bezogen und die "Ausstiegskante" bereits abgewetzt. Das Kunstleder Kopfteil hatte Risse und fing an abzublättern.
Dieser Zustand war absolut inakzeptabel.
Als Lösung bot man uns an die Topper weg zu lassen, man hätte keinen Ersatz und das Hotel ist ausgebucht. Das war für uns nicht akzeptabel.
Man war uns dann behilflich eine andere Bleibe zu suchen und zu finden.

Den Geburtstag meiner Begleitung hatten wir uns wirklich anders vorgestellt.

Ich kann aufgrund dieser Erfahrung dieses Hotel nicht weiter empfehlen.
Mir wurde aber zugesichert das man sich um diese Schwachstelle kümmern will.

The ladies at reception and at breakfast made up for the very gracious behavior of their colleague from the day before with their hospitality. Der Checkin war an eine herbe Enttäuschung. Der Herr am Empfang war - milde gesprochen - sehr unterkühlt. Das zugewiesene Zimmer Nr. 1 ist supoptimal: Direkt hinter der Rezeption gelegen, man bekommt ALLES mit einschließlich des Schliessmechanismus der großen schweren Eingangstüre und der sakralen Musik oder dem noch nervigeren Jazz in der Eingangshalle. Das Staubtuch war schon länger nicht in Benutzung. Frühstück ist ok. Zwar keine Parkmöglichkeiten direkt an der der Straße - man muss den Wagen auf der anderen Seite der Trave abstellen - aber das ist kein Problem. Die Damen am Empfang und beim Frühstück haben den sehr gnädigen Auftritt ihres Kollegen vom Vortag mit ihrer Gastfreundschaft kompensiert. Alles in allem 4 Sterne, insbesondere der guten Lage halber.
