The location is very nice, the staff friendly and attentive. And the view is gorgeous.

Dated facilities, mediocre food and a network infrastructure inappropriate for a location that wants to qualify as conference hotel in modern today, left a lot to be desired though.

Only have been for a conference dinner. The ride to up was a bit of a challenge but the view from top was worth it. The food was OK.

The hotels location is fantastic, but it seems the 2020-2021+ Epidemic has put a toll on this place. The Hotels 4 Star rating only suggest that it was once more then it is now. Don't get me wrong, the personel is friendly and all; it just feels largely understaffed. While all common nececities are there, the service lack in punctuality and awareness. In essence it is a 3 star hotel's service and facilities with the prices of a 4 star hotel.

HISTORY As the "Upper Castle" was the old Heidelberg Castle, first mentioned in 1225, on the grounds of today's parking lot of the Molkenkur. After the construction of the "New Heidelberg Castle" this building was destroyed by a lightning strike on April 25, 1537. One of the few drawings of the old castle dates from this year, commissioned by Count Ottheinrich (reconstruction in the Hall of Mirrors of the Molkenkur). The remains of the castle ruin were used in the course of the following years as usual during this time as a quarry and removed to the foundations. In 1851 Albrecht Wagner started to build the so-called "Swiss House". This building represents the central part of the Molkenkur, is a listed building and is still in its almost unchanged state. The name "Molkenkur" derives from the curative treatment of dairy products, which was then in fashion. The area between Molkenkur and Heidelberg's old town was mainly used as pasture at that time. In 1870, the Swiss engineer Nikolaus Riggenbach developed the rack railway. In Heidelberg, in 1890, the lower mountain railway section, built according to plans by Riggenbach and revolutionary for the time, was ceremoniously opened from the Zwingerstraße via the castle to the excursion restaurant Molkenkur. The Hall of Mirrors dates back to the Art Nouveau period, and further additions and hotel rooms followed in the 20th century. In the year 2000, the Molkenkur was taken over by the Scheuerle family as part of a leasehold agreement with the city of Heidelberg and undergone a major renovation in order to secure the long-term survival of this pearl of Heidelberg history, which has been attacked by weather and time. These efforts were sustainably supported by the renovation and reopening of the cable car in March 2005. Today's Schlosshotel Molkenkur offers up to 600 guests the opportunity to celebrate "at a high level" above the Heidelberg Castle, to hold conferences and conferences, to stay overnight or simply enjoy the excellent view over the Old Town, the excellent cuisine and a glass of wine Neckartal and the Rhine plain to enjoy.

I was at a wedding on the weekend. The hotel is actually really nice. The personal is really friendly.
But as they advertise they are a 4 stars hotel, they should take care of some small things. As I also come from the hotel branch I noticed that the waiters didn't really care about the glass they used to serve wine. White wine was served on red wine glasses and the other way around too.
There are some things that should be considered when in a 4 stars hotel, and many were not really followed.
Besides that, the decoration was really nice, and the table was well set up.
