My statement remains the same. The owner is very condescending. My attitude did not change to friendly! I was furious and simply quit talking.
The young woman at reception morning after check-in was very nice and surprised no one offered me a hair dryer at checkin. I think that was the owner and he is rude, very rude. Day two, evening, I went outside to enjoy the weather, sit on a bench and people watch for a few minutes, only to discover I did not have my key. No worries, the site states reception available until 10pm and it was 8:20pm. But the hotel was locked up!! No entry anywhere! I banged on the doors, the windows, nothing. Now it's dark and I need somewhere to sleep, so I walk to other hotels on the square and find one that has a room available, rents it to me without any id or card, trusting I will pay later. The next morning I go back to Kornmarkt and tell wife what happened, she said it's never happened before and offers me a free breakfast. Upon checkout the next day, she leaves the desk when she sees me and her husband comes in. I tell him about being locked out. He starts to question me as if I'm a child. "Why did you forget your key?" "Why didn't you just wait until someone else came back?" How was I supposed to know who was out or not? I'd not seen another guest in the 4 days I was there. Then asks why I didn't see the after hours number that is on the INSIDE of the office door! Not outside where it's needed for emergency. He said that when it was outside people called. Well, yes! I said he should comp me one night since I had to find another place to stay and pay for it. He then said "So, it's all about the money then." I responded "No, it's about being locked out, no way to get in, scared and getting cold." All in all a very bad experience. No apology. No acknowledgement that they needed to have a system for emergencies. No nothing. There is no atmosphere, no friendliness, very blah in a great location, unfortunately.

Nice hotel perfectly located in old town Heidelberg. The rooms are very clean and have everything you need.
The wifi isn't the best but that's only a problem if you need to work. Our rooms walls seemed thin as I could hear the bloke in the next room snoring
Definetly would stay here again if In Heidelberg

Great hotel and great rooms! We had room B, which was gigantic for a very reasonable price. Receptionists, while a little gruff, were very helpful in guiding us around the city and arranging taxis for us. The room even had a little balcony that over looked the tiny square below. Huge fan of the location in proximity to everything except the train station, which we made the mistake of walking from with our luggage.

This was my first experience visiting Germany and my first hotel stay. The hotel was very clean and very friendly. The owner was especially kind to our group of 13 that took over most of the hotel, and with such great service. Our group spent two nights while we visited Heidelberg so this was a perfect location to stay while we experienced the city and all the history. Some of the rooms are small compared to western expectations but you have to keep in mind that this is an old city and the buildings reflect the era they were built. I highly recommend this hotel.

Outrageous check in deadline for a hotel - either check in before 10 or tough luck! The personnel check out long before 10 as I returned to the hotel early in order to get some much needed information only to find the office locked. Ridiculous 10 fee for breakfast considering the room prices. A mini fridge in the room, like most hotels in the world have, would have been nice to keep some cold beverages available. No way to inform the maid service not to come in the room. I was not dressed when they unexpectedly walked in. Naturally I don't hold that against them since they had no way of knowing. They were actually the friendliest people in the hotel as the staff in reception were as warm as frosty the snowman. Some of the frost would have been welcomed to cool down the hotter than Dante's Inferno temperature in the room as would shutters/blinds/dark curtains have been.
On the positive side, the hotel was clean and central to the touristy (if that's what you are looking for) part of time. It is also quite easily reached by car and public transport.

Modest accommodations, but excellent location and great customer service. Our room overlooked the nearby square, and it was peacefully quiet at night. While the room furnishings are simple, everything was clean and comfortable. Would stay again!

Clean and comfortable, friendly staff, great location. We had a room on the top floor. The wifi was spotty up there. The beds were soft. It was a 16 minute walk to the castle. I'd stay here again.
