My statement remains the same. The owner is very condescending. My attitude did not change to friendly! I was furious and simply quit talking.
The young woman at reception morning after check-in was very nice and surprised no one offered me a hair dryer at checkin. I think that was the owner and he is rude, very rude. Day two, evening, I went outside to enjoy the weather, sit on a bench and people watch for a few minutes, only to discover I did not have my key. No worries, the site states reception available until 10pm and it was 8:20pm. But the hotel was locked up!! No entry anywhere! I banged on the doors, the windows, nothing. Now it's dark and I need somewhere to sleep, so I walk to other hotels on the square and find one that has a room available, rents it to me without any id or card, trusting I will pay later. The next morning I go back to Kornmarkt and tell wife what happened, she said it's never happened before and offers me a free breakfast. Upon checkout the next day, she leaves the desk when she sees me and her husband comes in. I tell him about being locked out. He starts to question me as if I'm a child. "Why did you forget your key?" "Why didn't you just wait until someone else came back?" How was I supposed to know who was out or not? I'd not seen another guest in the 4 days I was there. Then asks why I didn't see the after hours number that is on the INSIDE of the office door! Not outside where it's needed for emergency. He said that when it was outside people called. Well, yes! I said he should comp me one night since I had to find another place to stay and pay for it. He then said "So, it's all about the money then." I responded "No, it's about being locked out, no way to get in, scared and getting cold." All in all a very bad experience. No apology. No acknowledgement that they needed to have a system for emergencies. No nothing. There is no atmosphere, no friendliness, very blah in a great location, unfortunately.
