This is the usual chain hotel for the Holiday Inn Express. The workers were all helpful and polite. The workers at the front desk can speak several languages, so communication shouldn't be a problem. The rooms were clean. The included breakfast has a good variety of foods. However, it gets very busy about midway through the breakfast time.

I arrived this place on 22 Dec 2017 with my family after booking online for 7 nights for 623 euros but was made to pay 659 euros with the excuse that some nights are more expensive than advertised. Returned from outing with my family on second day late evening to find out that my room was not cleaned...bed not made...bathroom not cleaned. Housekeeper just dropped towels and left. The floor was as dirty as I left it and imagine you with a 3yr old. Breakfast is total disappointment. I'm checking out of here first thing on the morning. I am so disappointed. I complained to the receptionist and the answer I got is...i don't know why your room was not cleaned but our housekeepers have.closed. Will you like to come down and have a free drink?.... Guys...just imagine

Got a room where the window was broken (room 121)— it was not possible to open it, and the air quality in the room and the smell was pretty bad.
We asked to move, but apparently all rooms were full, so we should ask again the next day. On top of that, the telephone wasn‘t working either, and the water in the sink of the bathroom took forever to drown (the sink was clogged up).
This wasn’t all however, the vending machine for snacks was broken and the vending machine for drinks was empty. A bottle of water cost 5,5€ at the reception and although we had all of those problems, not even water was provided free of charge or at the price of the vending machine. The water that is offered for free in the lobby was empty and there weren’t any unused glasses. The receptionist wasn‘t unfriendly or anything, but I would have hoped for more.

Clean and modern. Friendly staff. I'm American so am used to bigger rooms (maybe). No ironing board or mini fridge. The room has a desk, small couch, full mattress, adjustable HVAC, shower with shampoo and body soap. Pretty basic but nicely done. Plenty of outlets. In room safe and coffee maker. No hotel gym. Off site gym has no deal with hotel so entry not guaranteed. May let you try it for free once.have not tried the small bar next to front desk. Continental breakfast is on par for a lower cost hotel. Boiled egg, croissant, bagels, cereal, coffee, etc... Location is 30 minute walk from the lake and most of downtown.

Lovely, clean, well-presented hotel. Very friendly, helpful staff.
However...
1)The wifi is very slow and unreliable.
2) Artificial sweetener tablets are provided, rather than proper sugar, for making tea/coffee.
3) A woeful choice of TV programmes for the British patron.
4) Breakfast wasn't great. Just bread, ham, cereals.

It was one of the worst places I ever stayed! To be honest, the hotel is very clean, rooms are very spacious and clean too, quiet and very good breakfast. The problem started the day we arrived, it was a hot day and the AC didn’t work so I called the reception and they informed me that they will turn the AC on tomorrow as we still in the winter season and we were in April! So I had to open the windows to be able to sleep and almost got all of the bugs available into my room as windows were widely open. So next day I was informed that the AC is ON but even that was not helpful and the room was boiling. Next morning, I woke up with mo hot water in the rooms and the receptionist asked me to take a cold shower for the day! Well, what a nice reply.
I am not interested to get any comments from the owner to satisfy me because the moment they will reply to this review, I would be already left.

It's a good and inexpensive hotel. It is about 5 minutes away from U3, U1 and about 10 from the S-Bahn. Coming from the airport it takes only about 40 minutes by train with a 10 minute walk, so I'd consider it a good location. The surrounding is surely not the best in Hamburg, but there is the restaurant Einstein next door which I'd recommend.

It's not a high class hotel, the rooms are small (which is especially a thing to scope with if you have a lot of luggage) and they only have a Max of 4 bedrooms.

But: for the price it is really good. Rooms are clean, and you sleep pretty well in the beds. In our rooms (we had two) we didn't have double beds, but it's enough for a short trip to Hamburg. Breakfast is good as well, not a very big variety of food tough, but enough.

To sum it up: not the best hotel but the best I've been to for such a reasonable price.
