But even if you just stroll there for a while and enjoy the atmosphere of the always very well-kept green area, a detour to the park is still highly recommended, because even if there are no park benches inviting you to linger, several remarkable works of art are gathered there ????. A "light sculpture" by the artist Walter Dexel, unmistakably inspired by Mondrian, rightly occupies the center of the park. The colorful work of the multi-talent Dexel, who is familiar with advertising, actually dates back to 1926. Just a few steps away ????u200d♂️ another outstanding sculpture awaits its viewers, namely the bronze "Rugby" by Edgar Augustien (1969-70). A little extraterrestrial in their martial armour, the two powerful figures have many fascinating detailed views to offer ????. (*) There is also a block of stone on the side of the path just in front of the footbridge, on which a memorial plaque for the famous namesake of the park is attached. And then there is (the) Schiller (monument from 1866). But Schiller turns his back on the park uninterested, and is so big that nobody will overlook it ????. Der Besucher des kleinen (aber feinen) Gustav-Mahler-Parks ???? wird äußerst angenehm davon überrascht, ausgerechnet dort, inmitten hoher Bürotürme und naher Bahngleise, die idyllischte Grünanlage im gesamten Hamburger Innenstadtbereich vorzufinden, doch gerade die den Park umgebende Bebauung, läßt dort eine besondere Oase der Ruhe ???? und Entspannung entstehen. Gerne würde man diesen Ort empfehlen als geradezu idealen Tipp für die kurze Kaffee- u0026 Verschnaufpause fernab der Großstadthektik, doch bedauerlicherweise hält der Park für seine Gäste wirklich keine einzige Sitzmöglichkeit bereit ???? (bzw. nur ganz am Rande). Doch auch um dort lediglich eine Weile zu flanieren und die Atmosphäre der stets sehr gepflegten Grünanlage zu genießen, ist ein Abstecher in den Park trotzdem sehr empfehlenswert, denn auch wenn keine Parkbänke zum Verweilen einladen, gleich mehrere beachtenswerte Kunstwerke sind dort versammelt ????. Eine unverkennbar von Mondrian inspirierte "Lichtplastik" des Künstlers Walter Dexel nimmt dabei völlig zurecht das Zentrum des Parks ein. Das farbenfrohe Werk des in der Werbung beheimateten Multitalents Dexel stammt tatsächlich bereits aus dem Jahre 1926. Nur wenige Schritte entfernt ????u200d♂️ wartet eine weitere herausragende Skulptur auf seine Betrachter, und zwar die Bronze "Rugby" von Edgar Augustien (1969-70). Ein wenig außerirdisch anmutend in ihren martialischen Rüstungen, haben die beiden kraftvollen Figuren viele faszinierende Detailansichten zu bieten ????. (*) Desweiteren befindet sich genau vor der Fußgängerbrücke noch ein Steinquader am Wegesrand, an dem eine Gedenktafel für den berühmten Namensgeber des Parks angebracht ist.
