Best breakfast we’ve had so far in Hamburg. Portions are really good considering the prices. Very kind and friendly staff. Just take into consideration that the place can be packed and definitely needs reservation. Highly recommended!

Cosy place with a very nice outdoors area covered by two large trees. The staff was friendly. The food was delicious and of good quality. (We had the beet root carpaccio, the antipasti platter and the „Flammkuchen“.) It could have been served a little faster.

Lovely cafe with an extensive selection of Flammkuchen ("Flame Cake" in German, or from Wikipedia "Tarte flambée: an Alsatian dish"). The place is much bigger than expected; guests may choose to sit indoor, at the patio or at the outdoor dining area when the weather's lovely.

The food was tasty but it took quite a while for it to get to our table during our visit, even though there weren't many other guests around, thus if you're feeling very hungry and can't stand waiting you may have to think twice about dining there. Otherwise, Cafe Elb Wein offers a pleasant experience for people to chill and enjoy meaningful conversation with one and other over fairly priced food and drinks.

We went here for brunch and several of us had the "Grosses Frühstück". It was not bad as such, but we could have gotten an identical brunch if we had gone to the baker's and the deli counter - and that would have easily been less than 1/3rd of the price per person. There was nothing of what was served to us that felt unique or made-to-order, and as such 15 Euros is really not good value for money.

That being said, maybe their other things are good - that I can obviously not say. The service was quite ok and the place is relatively cozy. Did not prevent me feeling disappointed after our visit, though.

*EDIT* after reply from owner, 3 stars -u003e 1 star. Here is the owner's arrogant reply:

Here is my reply to that (since there doesn't seem to be another reply function:
Why should I need to know about any "cost situations" in your business? Do the bakeries and butchers not pay rent, wages or tax? I'm happy on behalf of your staff that you (at least think that you) pay them fairly - that has absolutely nothing to do with me. If I go out to eat somewhere, I do expect to get something which I would not have gotten at home, either by better cooking than my own or by some other means. In this case, I could easily just buy these things myself - it was just some cheese and ham on a plate and some bread in a basket. The "big" breakfast was not even that big, my wife could finish it and she doesn't eat very much. Perhaps if scrambled eggs and/or something else was also included in that price, one would start to approach an ok value.

As I originally said, it was not at all bad but it was too little to be worth the money. This is my opinion and you as a business owner should be more humble towards your customers. It's not like my review was garbled nonsense, I clearly expressed what I was not happy with. With your arrogant reply, I will make sure never to visit your establishment again, and will also recommend others not to do so.

Went there for breakfast and i had disappointing experience.
You can go there if you are looking for a place where you can empty your wallet without filling your belly.
First of all the place is quite expensive, maybe the high prices are backed in terms of quality for the main courses available for lunch and dinner but NOT for breakfast.
Coffee was bad. Reminded me of the one I can get in a coffee machine at an airport or something like that.
Only a few options available for breakfast. All too expensive and fairly simple. A bit of bread, a croissant, jam, salami and cheese. Thats what you for the full breakfast menu. No egg included. That comes as an extra.
At least the atmosphere is OK

The bathroom is located downstairs so in case you are a person with mobility constrains it be an issue

I would not come back.

I have been there so many times! They have nice outdoor garden for sunny days and nicely decorated indoor tables. I love the flammekuchen there! So many choices and the dough is really thin and crispy! Price is good as well, servers are cool!
